Headed to Corpus Christi end of June with wife and 4 kids.....Dinner everynight for a week is our tradition when on vacation.....and I have nver been there...so instead of wasting alot of time looking around and asking locals where to eat GOOD seafood, not too expensive and is a family atmosphere.....

Where should we go?

Snoopies pier between corpus and north padre. Love the boiled shrimp. They only take cash. Padre pizzeria is great on north padre as well.

haven't been in a few years ... but we used to venture up to Rockport to a nice restaurant called Charlotte Plummer Seafare and also used to hit up the Big Fisherman in northern Aransas Pass ... not sure how far you want to drive or if you are staying actually in Corpus?

but yeah, we hit up Snoopy's Pier which is right at the eastern end of the big bridge leading to Mustang/North Padre island.

Boat 'n Net. Not a sit-down restaurant, but has some tables outside. Take the boxes down to one of the parks on Shoreline or Ocean Drive. Nice to sit and eat and watch the surfers and boats while enjoying the breeze off the Gulf. I go to the B'n N @ Weber/Doddridge and Staples. Chicken, fish and shrimp are the only meats. Sides are fried okra, FF, hush puppies, cole slaw.

I still recommend the Railroad Seafood Station, either the one downtown Corpus, or the original, if you are passing thru Odem. You won't be disappointed.

But for the finest seafood experience around, drive south one evening on U.S. 77 to between Ricardo and Riviera, and turn east at the billboard sign advertising Kings Inn. Its probably an hour's drive from Corpus Christi....but it will be worth it.

The food is served family style, so you will be ordering a platter of the very freshest tasting fish, or shrimp or oysters (or going for broke, and ordering all three!). French fries, delicious tomatoes, and a particularly tangy tarter sauce (try it on the tomato) are served with your order. You'll want to order an avocado salad, or a bombay salad as well. Enjoy! (and don't forget to remove your hat as you come in the door. Otherwise, you'll be reminded to do so)

One other tip: It's always a good practice to call ahead for a reservation...otherwise, you'll likely be waiting a while to be seated.

Do yourself and and your family a favor, and try it one evening. You can thank me later.

Boiling Pot in Rockport or Scuttlebutts going toward Port Aransas just before park 22 going towards Port A. Never been to Virginia's on the Bay in Port A but my dad swears by it. We will be trying it out next time.

Water St. Oyster Bar & Grill.

Far better than Snoopies or any of the others name, IMHO.

Charlotte Plumbers is not what it used to be IMO, & The Big Fisherman is closed down now. frown The Boiling Pot is still pretty good, just a little pricey. Water Street Oyster Bar & Grill in Port A is pretty good. Kings Inn is very good if you don't mind the drive. My favorite now is a little place on the water called Mickey's Bar & Grill. It's located in Aransas Pass at Hampton's Landing. Their seafood is really good and their burgers are my absolute favorite! Try the blackened flounder sandwhich! I'm not sure who to recommend in Corpus anymore, I seldom eat seafood in restaurants cause I believe my kitchen is the best! grin

An interesting day for you would be to visit Santa Gertrudis (King Ranch HQ) and museum then make the short drive down to the King's Inn...the advice the other folks have given you about the King's Inn is "dead on". Their onion rings and avocado salad are fantastic. It is a little pricey but well worth it...plus the view of Alazon Bay is really nice.

I doubt you will spend $150 unless the two girls are big eaters, and everyone tries to fill up on shrimp, and no one orders fish or oysters. Order sensibly, and Kings Inn turns out to be no more expensive than any other great seafood restaurant.
