I'm seeing who hunts around the Newcastle area. We are looking at a leasing some ground out there and would love to hear some feedback. it will be made up of a few places. One place is close to town by the Whiskey Creek Reservoir, the other are west of town on the river. I hunted not far from the area a few years back, but it was further NW. All the places have good cover, water and wheat

Some big deer along the river west of town.Hunted about 8 miles west toward Elbert a few years ago.During the rut they travel the second bank looking for does. Some 140-160 class deer but can be tough because of plum thickets.Tree stands are best, gets you above the thick stuff

Any place close to town and the road will be poached badly. I'm not talking drive by and spot light shooters. I'm talking dirt bags who will hunt the place when you aren't around. Sit in your stands, mess with your cameras. Good luck in that area.

I work hard, drink a little and hunt when I can.

Big deer near the river. I've heard some horror stories about a guy that leases out some places in that area then triple stacks hunters on there. Might check past posts about the Newcastle area to get his name.
