I have the Bushnell scout 1000 and I think it's pretty nice "bang for the buck". If you buy right with the rebate..

Is the Bushnell Scout 1000 with ARC worth the extra money? I'm want a Scout, but now am trying to decide whether I want to pay extra for the ARC.

you pay extra $$ on price and you don't get the $50 rebate. I have heard that if you bowhunt maybe..otherwise not much to do...

When it comes to optics I'd buy the best that you can afford. I've ended up re-buying every optic i've got.....range finder/binos/spotting scope/rifle scopes....you can spend more up front but end up saving big time in the long run.

You could also look at swarovski! Don't cut corners on optics it will cost you more in the long run as stated above.

Leopold RXII is what I have. It's designed for bow hunters and does a good job. I'm very happy with it.

I've had a Bushnell for quite a few years. However, I've never checked it for accuracy.

Bushnell 450 best bang for the buck. Usually pic them up for 80 to 110 dollars. Acurate, lightweight, compact.

You might want to consider the NIKON RIFLEHUNTER 550. It has their new ID Technology. ID = incline/decline system can be used for both rifle and archery hunting. Try this link.... http://www.nikonhunting.com/id-technology.htmlYou'll find it us much more clear than the Leupold RXII and the RXIII, as well as any of the Bushnell rangefinders. In the ID mode, it moves to .2yard increments. We retail it for $279.99.

I have the Nikon 440, the only complaint is my fault. I wish I would have gotten one with more yardardge. Not planning on shooting past 400 yards, just from time to time we are trying to figure out distances and it would be nice to have one that has a greater distance capacity. All in all I wouldnt trade it, its wonderful accurate and no issues to this day.

I agree I have been using one for about 5 years and its never let me down. If your bow hunting 400 yards is far enough dont pay more for the extra yardage unless you need it for something else

well for those of us that dont have money falling out of our asses to buy leica, i think the nikon is the best bang for your buck. go to cabelas website and read the reviews on the bushnell products.. not too good. i have a nikon prostaff 800 and it does everything i want it to do.. its also very simple

what do yall think about the rangefinders with arc and bullet or arrow compensation? ive got a nikon 800 and just started bow hunting. does it make sense to get one of those new ones? or is it just a gimmick?

I've got the ARC feature on my Leupold RXIII rangefinders. Way too much extra stuff on them, and I don't even use the ARC. My old Bushnells did just as good a job for a lot less money, I thought I had to have the Leupolds.

FOr bowhunting optics really doesn't matter on a rangefinder cause if you can't see it in low light with the range finder you ain't going to see it thru your peep sight neither! I would recommend the nikon 550, the arc could come in handy if bow hunting from a tall stand. If you plan on using it for long range rifle shooting then that is a different story.
