Doc said it could be 2-5 days before its bck to normal. And no catheter THANK GOD. And now Im gunna be self consious about my feet lol. Be careful out there guys. This wasnt fun. I was lucky though.

Couple years ago, my dad stepped on one walking to his boat at lake Texana. He took a good hit in his shin. After a few hours in the hospital it started swelling up through his thigh area. About a hour after he got hit, he was talking mess in the hospital saying he was tough cause it didn't hurt, a hour later he was begging for something for the pain, said it was like 100 red wasp hitting one little area. They had to give him some kind of synthetic pain killer, that is many times stronger then morphine, just to dull the pain. Then they started giving him anti venom. They said if the anti venom didn't work they would have to send him to corpus or san Antonio to fillet his thigh open to let it drain. Luckily the 12 doses of anti venom worked. He got bit on thur evening, didn't get out till sat at lunch. The reason they hold off on the anti venom each dose was $7500. Just his ant venom bill was 90,000, thank god for good insurance! Glad it went good hogslayer! Im getting the shakes when you talk about Matagorda county, i beach fish there during the summer when the high pressures flatten out the gulf. The normally muddy waters of matty beach turn green and clear. We destroy big fat trout in the surf during that time. Its a blast! Come on summertime!

Uncle Si has been bite 27 times.

This is why every damn snake I see die.
BTW: If you are going to start wearing flip flops this summer, you need to get a pedicure. Glad you are OK.

Did you take the dead snake with you? It is always a good idea if you can. Otherwise the doctor really has to trust what were bitten by in order to treat you with the snake specific antivenin. Sometimes it's just not possible but it removes any doubt for the hospital. Good that it wasn't worse. I always kill the venomous ones and it does seem like there are more around this year. Glad you feeling better.

My wife kills a few with the lawnmower every summer. And unfortunately near our house where the kids play... This is the most amazing part of the thread that no one touched. Your wife cut the grass at least once (impressive enough) but continued to do it after multiple copper head encounters. Tell your wife I'm impressed.

Glad you're on the mend, if I get bit the first treatment I'll require is for a heart attack.

GLad to hear your going to be ok. We see the occasional snake out at my stepdads lease but I haven't personally see. One. It's west texas so we wear snake boots when away from the camper.

Glad your ok. I agree that flip flops are a bad idea in Texas except at the pool or on the beach. If it aint snakes its fire ants, scorpions etc.... Or Mesquite thorns. I love wearing as little as possible in the heat. I've stepped on a Mesquite thorn before in flip flops. OUCH! never a snake though. Glad you're gonna' be okie-dokie.

look like snausages. haha, glad you are ok.
If I send my neighbors a text and ask them to give me feedback on my lawn and plant rye into a giant dong pattern, I'm probably going to get some less than positive feedback. Same goes here.

Whats ironic is that after i got back from the hospital, we stayed down there 2 more days and my foot was too fat to put shoes on! We ended up killing 6 copperheads over the weekend. Well... My buddies did. I just sat around with a cocktail all weekend.

I think copperheads are more likely to dry bite than some of the other venomous snakes. My buddy was doing wood duck research and reached behind without looking and got bit right on the hand. Lower arm swole up a bit and bit site turned a little dark, but he was fine in a day or so.
Glad you're okay.
