So, my company participates in several different charity events every year, through different oil/gas companies.

I always buys lots of raffle tickets to help out, and never win squat. This time I got lucky, and my handy little raffle ticket was pulled out of a hundreds!

I won a 2 day deer hunt. Considering I've never hunted outside of Texas, I thought I'd reach out to you guys for some guidance.

Attached is the map of locations (all low fence, free range) that I am able to choose from.

Anyone got the inside into where the best place to bag a big Okie buck would be???

I have to wear sunglasses into the woods, because the deer would recognize me, an just surrender with their hooves up.

Couple years ago 2011 I was in the northwest panhandle area and there were some nice bucks. Don't know how it would be this year.

Need a little more details as to what land this is. Who owns the parcels? How big? What groceries are out? Who else hunts? My buddy has a place there he owns but every Tom, Dick, Harry, cousin, 2nd cousin, 5th cousin twice removed by marriage hunts it too when he is back in Texas where he lives....

There are no deer in Oklahoma. I would not waste my time scouting much less hunting there if I were you wink. Probably just sell the hunt off to somebody that will take it off your hands. PM me how much you want for it. grin PM BOBO our MOD on here since he is an Okie landowner and can fill you in on what he would do. Good luck!

Pretty much every year the wildlife dept. reports the biggest deer are in the NW or panhandle. That is not to say other areas don't have big deer but you odds are better in the NW or panhandle. I would stick with the area between Manchester and Buffalo. Cooper is a WMA with a river on the west edge. The west edge should be a good spot, drive to the fence and walk to the river. The rest of Cooper is mostly knee high shinery.

If you have the time I would scout some of the areas before I made my pick.

The closer to the Kansas border, the better. Depending on the property, there are some great bucks to be had.

If I had this opp. personally I would be a scouting machine and make the best of it. Get up near each one and talk to the locals and landowners of each specific place and get the scoop. Even go as far as offer the LO's a little cash to run game cams and food plots for you. Wouldn't hurt to have a few pics as they are putting on the bone this summer. Then your two days may not be near as wasted.

Best is from roark up due north and then along the boarder as far as over all size. The biggest property probably would offer best chances since that country is pretty wide open.

But some studs are taken from around mcclasiter.

Just know Oklahoma hunting is going to be best durning ML season because thats usually when the rut is.

All those locations? Was this some sort of statewide hunting/sportsmans club kind of thing? As said, it really depends on the individual areas. You can probably rule out some parts of the state for tropy potential, but other than that, you could have a bad property in a great area and a great property in an area not known for trophys.

Maybe this will help with the research.
