I was wondering the legality of shooting a deer standing in water for the state of Texas. I have not shot one in water up to this point, but for future reference. Also this is a hunting forum,but my favorite method of hunting is hardly talked about,sadly. Falconry. I think we need to raise awareness for the sport and have its own thread.

Why would you want to be standing in water when you shoot a deer?
I tried shoot one while swimming one time but missed, it's hard to tread water & shoot a rifle.
Haven't had it in years but never spit any out. I am a sucker for happy endings and strapped cowboys.

I lived in Louisiana for 8 years, and it is not that uncommon at all to shoot deer in the water over there. Never heard anything about the legality of it, just know the swamp hunters do it.

Have a buddie that shot a moose in the water, that was a mistake he said he'd never do again.
Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.
