Just thought I'd pass on some neat info, if you have onstar in a GM vehicle that is not bluetooth capable, and don't use the onstar subscription, here's an option to convert your vehicle to bluetooth capable, enabling the use of the vehicles existing handsfree calling features. I did this in my 2011 camaro LS, which did not come with bluetooth, but did have onstar (which I don't subscribe to), and from my research & understanding, the same can be done w/Silverados, etc. I will explain the camaro process, since that's what I have first hand experience with. There are two onstar modules, one without the bluetooth antennae, and one with the bluetooth antenae. The Camaro bluetooth new part number I purchased was #20957195 (2011 CAMARO CRUZE SRX REGAL GEN 9.0 BLUETOOTH MODULE VCIM W/ ANTENNA) off of ebay and I believe the part numbers are vehicle specific. The onstar box is located behind the glove box on the camaro and took approximately 30 minutes total to swap out. I had to remove the fuse for the onstar, then remove the glove box, then remove 5 screws to remove the plastic cover, then remove the Onstar box, unplug the two wiring harnesses, and replace with the new onstar bluetooth capable box, and put the fuse back in. Then I paired my smartphone with the vehicle and now I have hands free calling in my 2011 camaro LS and all functions work properly through the radio. Disclaimer, I'm not a mechanic, this is how it worked for me and my 2011 camaro LS and above info is for reference only.

I'm going to look into this, I'm in the same boat and bought an aftermarket junk that doesn't work very well.
