 Hannah does it again!!

This time she finally got a big axis. This bad boy has been seen several times at the place in Boerne but has eluded ol dad. But my daughter set up on known travel route and waited 3 days. Built her own hide from branches and local foliage did her time sitting, wearing the Ghillie. No feeders or box blinds for this girl. Thought she was going to connect Sunday night but neighbors started target practice just as some of his does showed up. But she tried one last time this morning before we had to come back. I heard a shot right at 6:30 from the blind where I was, followed by her text. "Nervous. Axis everywhere. Big boy down". One shot from her .270 heart/lung and went 10 yards and fell over. Not a drop of blood. Perfect mushroom bullet lodged under skin of the far shoulder. This is a free range wild axis and went 35" on one side and 34.5" on the other. Probably close 250#, but that's a guess. My daughter is 5'8" to give a comparison.

Congrats to Hannah again, John. I could tell how thrilled she was Monday morning, and that is certainly the best Axis I've seen taken on the ranch-beats my best by a good six inches!

Thanks Brad! She was doubly excited because her BF was along on the trip. Even before we hung the deer she had to race back to the hotel and wake him and drag him out to the ranch. She left in full camo, and came back in what she saw. She told the BF, "This is a test, let me know if you get squeamish. This is a big part of my life". LOL! He passed with flying colors (no stranger to cleaning fish and smaller game).  And BTW, I was little surprise at the main beam length, because he looked smaller when I saw him before standing next to the massive one with the wide rack and long cottles. If this one was 35", then - dare I say this - that other beast might be very close to 40"
