If anyone knows someone who has some good hunting dogs with a litter . I am looking for something less than $400. I have an 11 year old that just can't make it anymore.

Thanks,
Brian

I just bought a lab from a guy out of troy. It's close to temple. $400 and excellent bloodlines. Puppies should be ready in 7 weeks. Is that too long?

Temple is a little far for me, but thanks. Thanks for your help. Michael I think I want a puppy, so I can socialize etc.

Worked him a little today with a 22 cal dummy launcher and he did fine with the noise. I don't think he will have any trouble making a good hunting dog.

Well with a older dog you don't quite get that bond with them like you do with a pup. Plus when you train the dog yourself, you know how to work them. Nobody trains there dog the same.

not trying to steer a person one way or the other, but a dog is going to bond with whoever is feeding it and showing it a good time. if your new to dogs and training a started dog is the way to go.

Attention rickym, this is not a troll post, just a good hearted fun type of post

yes that may be right, but I have always had a better relationship with dogs I raised from a pup rather than get one already trained. There is just not as much of a connection. JMO

I have tried both ways, puppy and started. I agree with Dabuckmaster that the socialization is important and as he said the dogs personality with help you figure out the best way to train with the least heartache, If there is such a thang.I normally would spend a lot more, but I have already spent a fortune lately on new guns before I realized old reliable's arthritis has gotten worse.

Well drake I don't know if you have found a dog yet but for the price of $400 you really should look at these dogs dad pedigree. www.ilovelabs2.com/PedigreeBear Look at bears pedigree. He will be the sire, and the dam is Emma. I drove 3 hours one way to get mine, and all my buddies who spent more are jealous. Call James, he will tell you anything you wanna know.

Barracuda Blue is a great dog and usually his offspring are good dogs. According to the pedigree Bear doesn't have a title and his father only had a JH. This doesn't mean he's not a capable dog. I would definitely go watch the dog work before making a decision because the pedigree isn't impressive after Barracuda Blue. Emma's pedigree doesn't show any titles. Again, these may be dogs that have hunted all their lives and just didn't participate in hunt tests or field trials. Also, they are only giving a one year guarantee on the hips.

yeah I asked about the one year hip guarantee, and he said "he is getting so old theres is no guarantee he will be here even a year. I agree about the pedigree, but you are also asking for a $400 dog. I was saying that for $400 these are great dogs.
