My wife got herself a 10/22 and now wants to make as accurate as possible. Upon the advice of some here, I went ahead and sent in the trigger to Brimstone Gunsmithing (which I'm stoked about). Next we got her Hogue stock. Not that it matter, but the ghillie green one because she liked the way it looks. I don't want to change barrels due to the cost associated with it.
Are there any other suggestions for with the main goal of maximizing accuracy that won't break the bank? Any and all suggestions are appreciated.
I'm a dude who likes long barrels!

Good scope and shoot the same ammo through it (not the coated remington mess)

Bbls can be found for under $100, well worth it for the accuracy. Why get cheapskate now?

In my experience, the barrel is what made the biggest difference.

Good ammo will make a bigger difference than anything you do. Make sure you are using subsonic ammo like CCI SV or CCI subsonic. If you want to spend more...get Eley match or CCI Green Tag. My rimfire's can go from a 1.5" at 50 yards with cheap ammo to .5" with good ammo.
BTW, I have a tactical solutions barrel for sale right now in the classifieds!!

Barrels are easy and cheap to swap.
Besides trigger and scope I also bedded mine.
Reciever and a pad for the barrel to rest on in front of the reciever... With only 1 action screw the ruger 10/22 is a great example of a gun that can drastically improve after being firmed up.
Caution If you do the job yourself: make sure when you are prepping the action so that the bedding material doesn't seep up and mechanically lock your action into the stock... When you are doing that step make sure you get some playdough around the barrel v block.. If not the bedding material will seep up there and lock you in good.... Not something many other rifles have so it's worth noting even if your seasoned at bedding rifles.

I had the same plan a while back. I was going to go with the .920 barrel, trigger, stock, etc. I went out and bought a new 10/22. I stuck a cheap scope on it just so I could shoot it a bit. Right off the bat, it shoots dime sized groups at 50 yards. I don't figure I can improve much on that and 50 yards is about as far as I shoot.
First time in my life I ever bought a rifle to customize. It shoots too good to mess with.
Practice doesn’t make perfect. Practice makes permanent.

Make sure you get a good scope base. The one that came with mine would loosen up after about 20 rounds. Get a solid base, some good rings, and a mid/low price range optic (something like a Mueller).

Good ammo is a big one. I shoot cci mini mag in most of my .22lr guns. I just built another 10/22 that is intended to be dedicated suppressed that I use only CCI SV thru.
I have one 10/22 that I Cut the original stock on to get rid of the barrel band and free floated the factory barrel using a $13 gunsmither V block replacement. It is prob more accurate than factory but im not fantastic with iron sights. I did add techsight sights to it and that helped as well.
You should look into a good bolt as well. Either KIDD or a reworked factory bolt will help since it has a better radius and has a pinned firing pin. You can always sell your current bolt to fund this. I recommend Q or Conneticut Precision for reworked, KIDD for new.
Last thing that I feel makes the most difference if you decide to not do a barrel swap is the KIDD receiver pin set. It is a screw together set and it locks your trigger group into your upper receiver so no wiggle or play between them.
Brimstone for your trigger was an excellent call too.

CPC (Connecticut Precision Chambering) is your next stop. Send Randy the bolt and barrel. He will make it right and it will shoot. Use Wolf MT for accuracy.
Cast I have a short attention spa

Good ammo and lots of practice. A 10/22 shoots pretty well....I wouldn't spend a lot of money on one.

Just installed a Volquartsen hammer in my 10/22 last night. what a huge difference in trigger crispness and weight. No way I could drop $200+ on a trigger for a 22 rifle but $33 for Volquartsen hammer kit was well worth it.

I was originally talking to the OP who doesn't even want to change his barrel or break the bank. Sounds like you did both for a purpose only known to you.... How much would I spend? I have no idea....I have never had need to shoot that tight of a group with a .22 at that distance but If I do I guess I'll shoot you a pm. Or just got buy a Savage BV.

I'd believe 1/4" groups at 50 on a good day, but at 100? Regularly?

I'd believe 1/4" groups at 50 on a good day, but at 100? Regularly? I've got to wave the BS flag too! The best ammo, weighed and sorted would have a hard time doing that in an Annie or Suhl. I'd have to see it, and I still would be hard pressed to believe that.
Live right. Do right. Demand the same in others. Screw off. Lie and cheat. Have no regard for the actions of others.
