I have a lease outside of Hillsboro and as the season progressed, there have been less and less birds. Hoping that this cold front and weather will push some new birds down my way. Will the birds be active immediately after the rain? I always see birds feed in town immediately following but I don't know about rural doves. I'm trying to decide whether I should head out thurs or fri? Any opinions?

Rule #1 - Never miss an opportunity to hunt.
Rule #2 - If you hunt water than the birds will NOT be as active as water will be plentiful in other areas.
Rule #3 - Rule #1 supersedes all other rules.

I have hunted the last two days, both a heavy sprinkle or misting. I have seen just as many birds the last two days as I have any other but I hunt sun flower fields. Now, if I could just hit half of what flew at me and the mojo I could be done in 30 minutes (but that screws up Rule #1).

After the first two weeks, it can take until Oct to get birds in. You just have to go yourself and see or have someone check it for you. Birds come and go for many reasons. Hurricane could mess it up real good.

With all the rain we got yesterday & some the day before, I am seeing MORE birds now so HOPEFULLY they will stay & bring more friends.
