Early or late...doesnt matter to me. As long as you are smart with what your taking. Besides, I'm always looking for a buck :-) does are always around and are secondary. A lot of counties have late doe seasons too.

Shoot them early in the season while they are still in good shape (tasty) and save the corn for something else.

One year it was really warm the first couple of weekends and we had a lot of relatives hunting. We took 30 doe off of a 500 acre place. I know that sounds like a lot, but it was like digging a hole in sand. After a week, you could not even tell. But, we saw probably more bucks when it cooled off than we have seen since and we saw what appeared to be a real rut, rather than just does and bucks together. Now it might have happened anyway, but we did notice it. But taking that many does every year turns into plain work for me, especially when it is hot. I guess it has to be done.

Most all of my does have yearlings with them and they still have their spots as of last wkds. I have always passed does with yearlings cuz they seem so dependant. This usually keeps me from getting a doe until later in the season. Is there any merit to passing the does with yearlings or am I just a softy?
