Hey guys.
I just bought myself an AK and I love it.
I was looking for a decent ak-74 when an opportunity was presented to me.
My friends bro bought it new in 2007 and sold it to my friend a couple years ago when he needed $. I have shot it and borrowed it a few times since he has owned it and always told him if he was to sell it, I had 1st dibs. Well he found a .308 battle rifle he wanted and we talked and I bought the ak so he could by his 308.
I always wanted one and I got one I've known since it was new and always liked.
In the 1st couple week of owning it, all matching serial numbers WASR 10/63.
Cleaned it throughly first, and found the extractor spring rusted, straight orange.
I finished the wood, as it was sanded off for some reason from factory
filed and polished the hammer so bolt would stop catching open, wasn't an issue as it just bothered me.
Removed tack weld and nut, Added tapco 74 style brake and Filed muzzle brake so it would screw on flush and tight with the detent, to end the rattle it had.
Worked on tight safety to smooth it out.
Added a bushnell red dot, k-var optic mount and mags and ammo and range time.
Also, the bayonet lug is ground off but I don't care.
I paid a little under market value but I was going to spend this much or more with a stranger, glad it was my friend.
Here is picture as it sits now. Pretty content for now.

Went to my personal range and zeroed the irons at 100 on 100 setting and then then the red dot the same. Did a return to zero test and the kvar mount was solid and returned to zero.
Here is a silhouette target I shot a 3 shot group with irons in middle and 3 shot group with red dot on left. Bottom middle hole is from sighting in irons.
I was extremely happy after these 2 groups. I adjusted the red dot and did another 3 shot and it was on the money and same size group.
Tulammo fmj from walmart.

Here is a target I took 2 prone shots on from 200yds with the red dot, not so pretty, but they're hits in my book.
