Want to get a handgun safe but no clue what is good. Id like one of the biometric ones but theyre pricey. Looked at Mini Gun Vault and Sentry models today but couldnt decide. Anyone have experience with either or another model?

Spend the extra for the bio safe. The min vault isn't bad either but I'd prefer the bio over any

From the research I've done the biometric ones are sometimes unreliable. I'm going to be buying a Fort Knox Personal Pistol Safe.

I have This Unit , and highly recommend it. It will not hold a G35, since the slide is too long. But it will hold a normal full size pistol. I can access it in about 1.5-2 seconds with a good finger swipe. I don't know about the research, but mine has worked flawlessly for the many years of daily use I have owned it. I also have a large handgun safe with the 4 finger key pad, and it works good. It's not as fast as the biometrics safe, but it holds a large pistol and I can access it in about 3-4 seconds.

I also have the larger safe with the 4 finger key pad and have 0 complaints. Easy access and more reliable to "me" than the bio.

I remember a post on THF recently where a guy discovered his wife and kids could open his biometric handgun safe.

id make sure to get a safe that can cablelock to something or bolt down.
I searched a while to find one that was small enough for where I wanted to put it but had a good method to secure it.

Im not too concerned with the safe walkin off or needing to be secured. The pistol is not secured today and its only a $600 gun.
Im more concerned with getting the safe open quickly and reliably. None of the safes ive looked at have really glowing reviews.

I have a bio as well and its works well. You can set it up for I think 3 or 4 people's prints, or different fingers. I am looking at the Fort Knox as well now.

I have 2 mini gun vaults... One in the truck, one in the house. Both 4 finger pads. They have back up keys, which is good bc the pad on one of mine quit working... Need to find something better or just buy another one.
Either way buy a safe... It keeps those that don't need it, away from it.

I have this - http://www.amazon.com/V-Line-Draw-Securi...eywords=v-line.It's a simplex lock so it's reliable and easy to use. The knob you turn to open it is kind of cheap feeling, but it's like that on purpose. If someone tries to open it with some force the knob will break off making it almost impossible to get in to. I like that idea because my main issue is keeping kids out.

I got this as a gift and love it. http://www.amazon.com/Gunvault-GVB1000-M...words=BIO+vaultI like that it plugs in so I am not draining the batteries twice a day, but it does have battery back up. The door is spring loaded and flies open. I also was skeptical of the BIO unit, but mine has been perfect. I made my wife and kids try to make sure it wouldn't open. Only complaint is the interior size. I keep and MidSize M&P .45 in mine with a x300 attached, and I am not sure you place much bigger. The issue is clearance for your hand to grip the gun properly, based on the interior height of the unit.

I have the 4 button sentry from academy. $100 bucks keeps my glock 35 and my wifes glock 26 nice and snug inside with extra mags laying beside it with 2 flashlights. works everytime and is pretty fast if you set the code up right, first i used a 6 button combo but that was way too slow and went with a 4 digit instead.
