For you 1911 guys they are a cool weapon for sure.........but.........45 acp is awesome at 10 yds man on man. Let your target get behind .......anything and it is the worst caliber ever. Saw a guy that got shot from about 5ft through a Honda car door and it only had enough energy to give him a bump on his calf. Bullet was laying on the floor board. Food for thought for you concealed guys. It is also why dps uses .357, at least that's what they used to issue. Better penetration through obstructions. Not recommending any caliber.
Not looking for a debate just pointing out a fact.

Not looking for a debate just pointing out a fact. You might also want to point out that 1911s can be had in 9mm, .40 S&W, 10mm, .38 Super...

I love my G17. It fits me well (I'm one of the lucky few I guess), and it's as tough as can be. In addition, the aftermarket support is unmatched in the striker-fire pistol world; it doesn't take but $20 to make a relatively decent trigger. I've actually grown to like the way they look too.
I'll usually throw mine in the front cargo box of an ATV, and it gets rattled around in there pretty good. I certainly wouldn't wan't to do that to my 1911.

I used to hate glocks until I shot one. Now it's the only pistol I own. Actually just sold my 17 and 19 buying a 22c and 23c. I've had 3 1911's in 9mm/45 and all had feeding issues. I can't trust my life on a gun that won't cycle HP's or some regular ball ammo. Although I love the looks and slimness of the 1911 it's just not for me. I've also owned sig 226 which fit my hand pretty good and xd's and berreta 92. Glock is what I choose and I shoot it great which is all that matters to me.

I've never been a fan of Glocks. I shoot Springfield and sigs mostly. Sigs are the way to go. You get what you pay for.

Yes you might want to point out that .45 acp is the most common caliber for 1911. THe posters did not point out what their 1911 was chambered in (most likely .45 acp)which is why I only spoke of the limitations of .45 acp. Notice I never mentioned 9mm 10 mm or .40 cal. C'mon guys.

Why not like them both and realize they are just different. Why does one have to be better than the other? They are both fantastic....and I'd be proud to own either.

I don't hate them I'll just never own one, it's not becasue they're inaccurate or unreliable, it's because their plastic and I will not own a plastic pistol. I'm very happy with my Sig's.
Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

I have to agree, I have made it all this time without owning one until two months ago. I bought the wife a 40cal 22 gen 3. It is the only auto that she can work the slide on. And like you said I hate that it shoots so well... But it does.

I Hate that you Hate your Glock. give me your address and I will come get it out of your way!!! haha. I'm sure there's a lot of folks that would be willing to take it off my hands. I did shoot an Smith and Wesson M&P 9mm over the weekend. It was pretty nice. Didn't like a few things about the trigger, but it was pretty pleasant to shoot. Definitely a better, more natural, grip angle.

I absolutely love my ultra-reliable plastic guns. I like many other as well (XDMs, sig, j-frame); but, I just usually grab one of the glocks.

I'd put a glocks reliability up there with sigs or beyond it any day. A few years ago at the DPS firing range during some training a Glock and Sig Rep were there to demo products. The Glock guy buried it in dirt, water etc the usual torture tests. Then he threw it off a three story rappel tower onto concrete. Loaded it an fired it. Glock Rep turns to the Sig Rep and says, "Alright, your turn." Sig Rep just walked away.

You can put me into the category of "ex" Glock haters.
I never liked their look or feel, although admittedly I had never fired one until recently. At my last CHL renewal the instructor had a pair of 17's for the students to use if they wanted to. He said both were way over 10K rounds and neither had ever had a FTF or a FTE. And of course they performed flawlessly for the 200 or so rounds put through them that day. So when I recently saw one come across the classifieds on the TFF for $400 I had to pounce on it. Now that ugly azz Glock is about to replace my beloved 6906 as my go to 9mm. Who woulda thunk it?
Silver spurs and gold tequila keep me hanging on. Pretty girls and old cantinas give me shelter from the storm.

I might own a Glock if they pointed straight in my hands. I've also never had any problems with my 1911's to justify a change.
