My dad was injured quite a few years back and is paralized from his chest down (quadriplegic). He has been wanting to get back into hunting and shooting but has no way to hold the gun and shoot it. I am looking for a set up like the one the guy has on the cover shot of THF for being able to shoot the gun. If anyone has any info on any kind of shooting set up I would really appreciate it. I am trying to do this as a suprise to him so he can go on a hunt with me this next deer season. Thanks

Beadaptive.com has some cool things. I'm only a para so I'm not real sure what you need.

At least anything worthy of mentioning.

go to buckmasters here's the link for adaptive equipment http://buckmasters.com/resources/badf/disabled-hunters/adaptive-equipment.aspx. I'm a c-5 quad and I've been hunting and shooting for the last 8yrs. Thumbole stocks work great, I use to use a sipp n puff trigger but now we just attach a string to the trigger and, I pull it w/ my mouth. That way each gun/crossbow doesn't have to be adapted. I use a shootimg table that we attach to my chair and rest the weapon on a poti-aim which is a small tri-pod that swivels 360 degrees. Hope this helps.

Caldwell makes the deadshot shooting pod. It is light and holds the gun or crossbow pretty securely. Then you can get a sipp n puff trigger. shooting pod costs around $80 at Cabelas. Not sure on the sipp n puff.

You might contact the guys at www.turningpointnation.org Shorty, the head of the group is paraplegic and knows a lot of places that can help with making fishing, hunting and shooting more accessible to those with physical challenges. They help lots of kids and adults that are paraplegic, quadraplegic or amputees.

I don't know how limited your dad's use of his arms and hands is, but I can tell you what works for me. I am paralysed from the bottom of my chest down, and have permanent ligament damage in my wrists that prevents me from bending them back any farther than a straight position. If your dad can turn the gun a little and pull the triger, he would probably be able to set up the same way I do. I sit in a pop-up blind with an adjustable bed side table that I angle where the entire length of the gun or crossbow will rest on the table with the butt of the stock up by my shoulder. A cheap bipod on the front of the gun will help, but isn't necessary for me. I just pull my wheelchair up under the table at the right angle and when it comes time to shoot, it doesn't take much effort to adjust where the gun is pointed and get the crosshairs on the unlucky animal. An adjustable table can be bought for under $70 and a pivoting bipod is less than $50. I hope this idea helps. I lived to hunt before I was injured a couple of years ago, and nothing has changed. Where there is a will there is a way!
