Well I've hunted 3 times so far this season...twice on opening day and once on Tuesday. Opening morning we placed two mojos out. We certainly got some doves that came in mojo induced...had some really good swoopers. Of the guys in my little group I got the most at 7...there were a lot of birds but not a lot in range. More whitewings than morning dove.

That afternoon we went out to the same area but set up in another field. This time we used 3 mojos. I figured if two work well 3 would work even better right?

Well I'm not sure they worked any better...for sure had a couple that swooped in on them but for the most part our results in front of the mojos were no better than the guys that were in other areas of the field. I did get my 5 more for the day in about an hour after the dove started flying.

Interestingly Tuesday evening was probably my best hunt. Had 4 in our group but I split off and hunted solo on another field but it was right next to the other guys so we could yell to each other accross the treeline if birds were coming.

I set up a single mojo and hid back against the treeline. I ended up getting a limit in a little over an hour...about half whitewing and half morning. Overall looking at the other guys bags again mostly whitewing. I would say the mojo did a better job that day than the other two hunts. Was it because I just put one out and not multiple...I really don't know as there are way to many variables.

Perhaps not having a lot of other people moving around helped more than anything. In fact I think thats what it came down to more than anything. Lots of the guys I was hunting with opening day didnt camo up and probably didnt do a good job of consealing themselves or staying still. If I can see a guy wearing a white shirt from 400 yards away but can't see the guy in camo it tells me the birds can pick them out as well and after getting shot at I figure they will start to learn to avoid people standing in fields.

Lastly has anyone painted a whitewing on their mojo? I was thinking about doing that since there are more whitewings in this area now.

Last year I set my mojo out with about 6 regular decoys around it. I had really good luck with that set up, late in the season. So far this season, I've just used the solo mojo. I think camo definitely helps. My buddy hunts in faded blue jeans and a light colored shirt. The last time out, he had one bird when I showed up with my limit.

Easiest way to success is hunt about 75 yards from someone not wearing camo. You'll get all of their birds. And talk on the cell phone at the same time. That always brings them in for some reason.

Peeing works every time. I see nothing for hours. Set gun down to pee, and they come out of the wood work.

Wonder if I can get one of them decoys. Maybe a cardboard cut-out of someone and run a water pump...

Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting.......holy kaka.....What a Ride!

The mojo works big time, especially when the birds are wanting to land and looking for a spot. We had big groups comming into our mojo on Tues, we just had one out me and my son, they would come over the trees accross the feild, see the mojo, a few from the flock would turn for the mojo, the rest would follow, they would cup and come in. Maybe big flocks are better, more of a chance some will come, and the rest will follow.

Also, there was no food in our feild either, and birds were full of food, and they did not start pouring in till like an hour after legal, so that tells me they ate, and came into our mojo for a rest after eating from somewhere else, I can only assume.

I've been using one for a few years and I think 1 is more effective. Not sure why, just my opinion.

In regards to effective duck attraction, it's when you find that high spot next to a tree, hang your gun up and have your waders down around your knees, that's when all hell breaks out.

Jay are you saying one is more effective because you've tried more or is it just an educated guess?

I had some hunters come down to hunt with me and they had two of them out. Told them they didnt need them but were welcome to put them out. Well when the birds were good and thick they were just landing on top of those dang things, seemed to work really well on singles and doubles, would even pull one or two out of some of the groups of 100 or more, pretty impressive in my book.

For about three days in a row...we've had HUGE groups of doves just circle and circle the thing.
