I had hogs coming in every single night for over a month. My son and I hunted them hard, and now they've "disappeared". I haven't seen one for 9 days now.

Are they gone because we pressured them too much, or do they move around to other areas. I have corn piling up and nobody's eating it!

Would love to hear about your experience.

Yeah. Noramlly when you hunt hogs that hard like you say they will avoid the area and move on for a while unless another group moves into the area.

How much rain have you had in the past few weeks? Hogs will turn to native forage if you have enough of it with rain and softer soils.

Hogs are impossible to pattern. Here today, may be gone tommorrow. i have steady damage in my fields, no disterbunce, then seems like nothing for a while. Just can't really tell about hogs. Like a new day every day.

There has been plenty of rain, and more is expected tomorrow. Interesting, I never thought about rain as a possibility.

I was thinking that maybe it's a late spring issue where they go mate or something.

Hogs do not wear watches, have day planners, fixed homes, or monogamous relationships. They may be gone because you pressured them. They may be gone because they have found better forage elsewhere. They may be gone because the winds changed direction. As noted, you cannot reliably pattern them.

Tough to pattern. Just be glad you don't have them right now and kill them when you see them!

they will return back if they cant find food else where. Most likely another group will show up. They will move less when its hot but if your getting rain look for soft places where they can dig a hole and role on mud. Also try changing you feeder from the previous location. Another thing is pour corn about 50 yrd from your feeder they might get that corn because they know whats going to happen if they go to the feeder!! just my 2 cents

When you figure it out, let the rest of us know. Cold weather usually helps. We aren't gonna see that much for a while. Low hunting pressure helps as well.

Hogs are like shopping carts and have a mind of their own!

Seriously and as noted, unless you have a resource in an area where hogs are starving or thirsty, you will not be able to consistently pattern them.

After the Rock House fire in west Texas by Fort Davis, I got to set up and watch one of the few water holes around for miles on the edge of the burn area. As the only water, a lot of animal traffic moved by the hole. That was pretty neat. Animals (including hogs) came over and over again.

Here today, gone tomorrow.

But they will be back...whenever they decide to roam your way.

This.

I didn't learn this by seeing it on TV, I learned it by doing it.
