So after some help from a few members here, i went back to the store looking at some different models. I was planning on spending around $450 for a gun/scope combo since this is my first hunting rifle, and was looking at the Remington 770 models. When i went to the store this morning, i noticed they had a new used rifle for sale. Needless to say i ended up walking out with it. here are the specs:

-Remington 700 in a .243 with a SS barrel

-Simmons Aetec 6-20x50 scope (maybe a little high magnification for deer, but im happy with it)

-obviously it has a custom paint job on it

-has an awesome trigger job on it. pull is less than 1mm and about a 1-1.5 pound pull!!!

And of course, heres the pic:



Thanks to everyone who offered their input and helped me make my decision. did i mention i went over budget? $475 out the door.

Congratulations on the first rifle purchase! I think you will be really pleased with it.

Never seen a straight comb stock on a BDL, though it looks to have a floor plate. CDL maybe,,, anyway congrads and yeah, practice with that light of a trigger.

Like everyone else has said, get used to that trigger. I like a light pull myself. But it does require some special attention at first.

That combo should be great for anything in Texas from prairie dogs to pigs.

Now, that looks like a hunting rifle. You did good. That should make you an excellent hunting rig.

Never sell it, being your first rifle, you will alway regret it. Or at least I did.

Well i went out and shot it for the first time today. I was using some cheap federal ammo (walmart special) and using standard 100 yard small bore rifle targets, managed to keep them all in the black rings of the target at 100 yards. I almost kept them all in the black at 200 yards (missed one little guy), which as far as im concerned is pretty darn ood for my firt time with it. Plus, i dont plan on shooting anything farther than that with a 243. I think ill be keeping this one forever! Thanks again to the people who helped me choose my first rifle.

Now that is on cool looking rifle!!! That cheap walmart amo, federal. I shoot it all the time and like it. I have shot many rounds out my 270 and 308 and my gun loves them. If your having a little issue getting groups tight my have to try different amo. But that 308 and 270 federal will put them dudes on the ground to. I can see it now, your gun is camoed better then you. Good luck with your new toy

Nice rifle, has the trigger been changed or is it a factory trigger? Seems light to be an adjusted factory so when I say changed I mean replaced with custom trigger

Yeah, be careful with that 'hair trigger', especially when you're wearing gloves later in the year!
