It seems like over the past 4 years I've gone turkey hunting about 6 times. I've still never shot a turkey. This last weekend I was out at my friends ranch. I got reports from my buddy's grandfather but I did not get so much as a call back when I went out there. I really just want one for my wall. One of these days maybe. My first hunts were with a guide too and it was funny because all the other hunters in that outfit were able to get one except me. Overall I've still had fund doing it.

Keith would probably be shaking his head after our hunt wonder why the turkey never committed. I've just had bad luck with them. I had one hunt where I was with a buddy and we had a plan to both be able to get one. He got excited and shot way before I was even ready..by the time I shot the one I could have shot was no longer in range. I was about as pissed as you can get at him and he's over there happy as hell because it was his first turkey. I played it cool and acted like I was happy for him.

Lol, we should hang out. I've been on my own "personal quest" to get one for 4 years as well.

Opening weekend we got on them good and my buddy eric got a shot at one, then my buddy ben shot one the next day.

This year my buddy shane said "I'm taking you to my lease" we called in two jakes, and he shot them both with 1 shell....

After last weekend I know it will be another year before I get one but honestly I'm ok with it. I have a great time being in the woods and these days hunting and putting in time makes the kill that much more rewarding.

Sure there are guides I can use to gain access to "prime spots" and get one for the wall. But I guess I'm stubborn about this and want to do it the hard way. I look at the challenge of hunting turkeys like when I first started hunting waterfowl, I wasn't much for the "easy method" I wanted to learn everything I could.
