I am moving looking for recommendations of where I can board my shorthair few a few weeks while I find a place to live. Currently living in S Texas, moving to MT.

Am jealous, you'll be in cool weather with a good wild bird population while we will be here in a drought and lots of snakes and no birds.

How old is the dog and how tight on training is he? If he could stand a little training, you might consider sending him to a trainer for a month or so while you get settled.
