This BBQ restaurant opened in Frisco in February and my family finally got around to trying it. Traditionally, Collin County has been associated with good BBQ about like Tony Romo has been associated with winning Super Bowls. Despite this fact, we thought we would give this place a try.
For meats, we ordered lean brisket, burnt ends, pulled pork, baby back ribs, turkey, and jalapeno and cheese sausage. For our sides we ordered the baked beans, grilled corn, and the six cheese macaroni & cheese.
Our brisket was nicely smoked with a pretty good layer of bark. The burnt ends were very flavorful. The pulled pork and the sausage was average at best. The turkey had a nice smoky flavor and was some of the best smoked turkey I have had in quite some time. Of all the meats, the baby back ribs were the best. They were extremely tender, came off the bone easily, and were seasoned with a nice rub that was somewhat sweet. When I go back here, I will definitely get more ribs next time.
The sides were hit and miss. The baked beans were undercooked and still somewhat hard, but they had pieces of jalapenos which would have given them a nice flavor had they been fully cooked. The grilled corn was pretty good. The mac n' cheese was great and oozing with cheese.
Overall this place was pretty decent, but expensive ($7.99 per 1/2 pound). I don't mind paying top dollar for high quality bbq such as Pecan Lodge and Franklins, but this place was nowhere near as good as those two places.

The sides were around $2 to $2.50. Sorry for the confusion, but that price for meat is still pretty steep to me.

Ive been hearing a lot about a new BBQ joint Kenny's Smoke House (same owner of Kennys Hamburgers and Kennys Woddfire Grill)
its been open for a few months now.
so far ive only heard great things about the food. i was told to go for lunch to avoid the one hour wait!
Its next on my DFW bbq list to try.
My favorite in Dallas is Mike Andersons

I have never been to Kenny's Smoke House, but his Italian place isn't bad. Not a fan of his burger joint, but anxious to hear a review of the Smoke House.
