I stopped by Gibsons in Kerrville today..wanted a box of 165 .308 Projectiles..all they had was Hornady ballistic Tip
and they tried to charge me $67.10 for a box.I went to the gun
club and got Sierra's for $33.75 which is about $8 higher before the politics..DD

Make a mental note on who does this carp. That way when things calm back down, you don't have to bother them by darkening their doorstep.

Pricing like that shows you what they really think of your business.

There are those who read of what others have done, then there are those like me who do what others read about.

There is a lot of crazy pricing going on. Question is, is the the Gibsons or their supplier, or both maybe.

Gibson's is raising their prices.
It is interesting to see shops charging above outrageous prices and saying their price is better than everyone else. Really, how can everyone say that?
If I can get a box of bullets at Cabelas, Bass Pro or Academy for $10 and the gouging shops are charging $20, you have to think someone is full of crap.
If their suppliers are so stinking high that they have to charge that much, they need to get their bullets from Cabelas, Bass Pro or Academy and they can make 100% profit.
Don't believe the sales pitch, they are gougers.
I agree, that is a lousy way to treat your customers.

I had the same thing happen to me at nagles gun shop. I know there usually high but I picked up a box of TSX 224 50gr for my 22-250 and a couple other boxes of bullets. When I looked at the receipt I noticed I paid 49.99 for that box of 50 bullets... I was like DAMN!!!

If we buy it at the inflated prices we are only hurting ourselves and adding chum to the frenzy

Simple Searcher nailed it. How can everyone say they are still cheaper than the other guy to try and justify their gouging. I have seen that many times. And how can these shops say they are barely making anything on bullets when Cabelas, BassPro and Academy are half the price, or less.

Reality is those shops are buying at Cabelas, Bass Pro and Academy every morning at 8AM and then turning it around in the shop. They have thier minions lined up at every door. Go one day and just listen. They are organized like a gang. Texting the other 'crews' when to come or not. Its comical at best

Maybe the end users should organize like that and and bust up the party if that's what's really going on. I'm all for free enterprise and profit, but underhandedness is a non-starter!

I was looking at bullets from our distributors. Prices are pretty much the same. Out of stock of course, but prices are the same.

If anyone sees 208 A-Max bullets, let me know

I was in a gun shop in College Station and they had 556 for $30 a box of 20! Then I spotted a Yugo SKS for $699!

I feel like yall are being too emotional. This is America...if people want to charge outrages prices they can...the market will tell them if the price is too high and they will have to lower prices. Supply and demand really do work and are the forces behind this. In this case Gibsons will see that this particular piece of merchandiser is not moving so they will be forced to sooner or later lower prices. If they don't it's because ignorant people are still buying it.

To me gouging is something done when in a crisis situation people need something like food or water and people jack up prices because they people have no choice and can't drive 50 miles to get things at normal prices. This is not moral. In the case of guns and ammo we all have a choice and there is not a great and immediate need.

The internet is a great equalizing force for the consumer. I think it's funny that people talk about...hey let's remember this and then not give them our business. I'd lay lots of money down that if Gibson's or whatever store you are not liking at the moment because you think they are charging to much, went on to then have the lowest price...you guys would be back shopping there in a minute. Honestly I think you would be foolish to pay more.

I would ask.. are you telling these shop owners that you will not be back.. If enough of us say it and then actually follow though, they might remember.

I think you are better off just saying...hey I'd like to do business with you but your prices are too high. I'm getting it down the street for X amount. You will get nothing by being ugly and saying you lost my business...but if you open a door to them and tell them you want to do business...they might actually listen and say well maybe I can match or even beat that price. If they can't then they have work to do.

There is a reason you are in his shop and not down the street. If the buisness down the street had it for a cheaper price you probably wouldnt say anything and buy it there.

Yup. cheers

Too many out there will be right back in the store or ordering online when prices starts getting back to normal. That's how CTD stays in business. I heard so many swear off that place in 2008. Apparently it really doesn't matter.

One of the local places to me that sells Reloading supplies is fairly decent on their prices only about $2-$4 over what you can get stuff online for when you find it. Their dies are a bit pricey but I can get those elsewhere and I'm ok with their slight markup since I'm not paying a hazmat fee or an extra $8 shipping fee either.
