Wow! thats gorgeous. maybe a dumb question, but every AR pistol i see has the rod coming out the back. is that integral to the functionallity of the AR system? or is it cosmetic?

It's the buffer tube; it contains the recoil spring. Handgun-caliber AR pistols are set up a bit different since they don't have the recoil impulse of rifle ammo. Rock River Piston-Actuated AR Pistol Here's one that doesn't have a buffer tube, but it has a gas piston (like an AK) instead of gas impinging on the normal AR bolt carrier.

Very nice. Love the color. Where's your pivot pin, and charging handle?

I might do Hogue or Umbrella grips someday, not sure.
I have a BCM charging handle and need to sand down the front pivot pin as it's extremely tight.
An Eotech XPS 2 is awaiting mounting and zeroing.
REALLY need to find a nice Flash Suppressor or something to stick on the end of the barrel.
Last bit for it now are some Troy iron sights when I can find a decent deal on them.
SBR paperwork will get started next week. Already have my trust setup.

I prefer the Magpul MOE + grip to the Hogue after running both.

Throw a Flaming Pig on that sucker and call it a day. Sweet looking pistol!
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

Do not grind down your pivot pin. Use some 220 sand paper on the upper receiver pin holes. And then Just keep installing the pins over and over again until they work loose
I've a similar problems a quite a few AR's I've put together.
