In the same spirit of Bill's "front foot up post", lets see some mid-stride point photos.

A few from Angel.

Looking good! That's my very favorite type of points. I like them much better than the high on both ends points. There's one but only in my mind of Cracker's last covey of the year.

This one will have to do for the time being. This is Cookie with a bird in the air from a covey of around a dozen birds. The remainder were still there for the gunners.

Not that great of a picture but it gives me the opportunity to post a picture of my first bird dog J.R., he is 11 here & died from Heartworms in the off season. Sure miss that ol boy. Rest In Peace J.R.

That's classic looking cover. It'd make a great background for any painting.

That is just South of Sterling City, that year was the best year of bird hunting I have had in my adult life. We had probably 80% blues, we had one more decent year after that one & it was over.

A little hijack! I had a lease in that area, and it seemed more like 90% blues. I didn't re-up the following year. I got a call from a friend yesterday, who told me a mutual friend had a really great year down there this year. I repeated my numbers, and the friend said that he was told that the numbers were reversed.

It was secondhand information. I don't believe it.

I have a couple of good ones from the last hunt of the year but can't seem to find them at the moment. In the mean time this will have to do. She almost fell over she was stuck on point in such an akward position.

Classic!! I have a few with one ear back. Maybe I'll look them up if it rains all day.

I guess you could call this one a mid stride point. You can't tell it from the picture, but it was a solid point on a single wild quail that stopped Dash with with his rear foot up. We had busted a covey up minutes before.

And another Dash Rip Rock point with no foot up, but I don't think that tail could be any straighter. I did a lot of barrel work with him and the stacking for confirmation. I sometimes wonder if it it helps with style because he definately presents nicer looking points on average than my Blaze ever did.

I truly think some dogs are just born with style.

I sure hope this works, first time to try posting pics. Rusty is the girl with the rust coat and Mandy is the chocolate girl.

If you ever see a pic of my pup with both ears down it is most likely due to the fact that I walked over and folded at least one of them down for the picture. When she is hunting those ears are folded back.

John, there ain't no way you will ever convince me those are show dogs bolt

Wish I had my camera ready at the lease today, could have gotten some mid stride point pics myself.

Don't have a photo of it, but one of my favorite memories of Tess is that of a "sundown covey" found as we were following a fenceline going back to the truck at the end of a hunt. just as Tess loped pass a prickly pear growing up along the fenceline, she "pretzeled" and turned to stone until the covey exploded into flight.

The picture in my mind's eye is a fresh as yesterday. Tess is young and lithe, and I'm a little more spry myself.

You should have been there. It was a sight to behold.

Here is one of Jack where he caught the scent and turned a hard 90 and reached for the bird. I always liked his style in this picture.
