As it says I am thinking about getting into bow hunting. I know there are a lot of choices out there etc. I also gather from reading here and a couple of places that fit is very important, which is what I expected.

That said I would appreciate some feedback about a metroplex shop where you will get good advice, assistance etc. and not just somebody trying to sell you something. I have no issue paying more $'s for same bow from a local independent that is knowledgeable and helpful.

Thanks

i would go to a local pro shop and get fitted. the people at bass pro and cabelas I'm sure mean well, but most just don't have the experiance and knowledge that I'm looking for.

shoot alot of bows, find the one that "fits" meaning one that you shoot well, and go out and have fun.

picking bowhunting back up is one of the best things I've ever done outdoors-wise

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Yep, I know how to spell "bow" and I played with one as kid.

Or perhaps I should tell him about the $150,000.00 ++ surgically repaired right shoulder and bicep that I own that the insurance company paid to have fixed. laugh

I appreciate the info BOBO I have no doubt he will do me right. I am in no hurry and will take my time.

May also want to check out Alvarado Archery, pretty close and seem to have it together. Also a place out in Weatherford that is awesome.

Kerens is a heck of a lot closer to Red Oak than Alvarado or Weatherford. Jerry is a good guy..

Not saying that Jim in Alvarado and David in Weatherford are also good guys, they are and good freinds of mine but Jerry in Kerens is just as good and a whole lot closer.
grin just my 2 cents worth.

Thanks to each and every for the input.

Actually Alvarado is about 30 miles, while Kerens is about 60 miles...but I will visit each shop based on the info provided here. Weatherford is a bit far and I seldom have cause to venture over that way.

I have occasional cause to be in the Cedar Creek area i.e. fishing, and I make fairly regular trips down 67 through Alvarado to Brownwood.

Once again thanks so much for input.

Joe

Thank You,it has been a long road, but I should be good to go. Once of the reasons either one of the shops appeals to me is they deal in Bowtech/Diamond. I want their advice about a Diamond Infinite Edge.

It may not be the best entry level bow, but the adjustable draw may help in giving me time to build up my shoulder's strength. It seems to be a reasonable price point...if my shoulder works out and I want to continue in the sport then maybe another bow would be in order. Even with that logic I want to talk with a pro.

Thanks again,

Joe

I shot one till it felt like I was throwing a hammer. When I release it feels like a bullet sliding out of a gun now. Clean crisp and when it hits a target it makes a THUMP like no other.
