As many of you may remember I posted a thread about knocking doors in wise county and getting a lease for $400 total for me stepdad and uncle. Ya'll saw the thread about the turkeys we killed and I never got a chance to give my final wrap up. Well we leased 50 acres for $400. Never had a single dry hunt during deer season and it was by far the best bow season I have ever sat in my life. Ton's of nice bucks and deer so close every hunt well I was forced to move to south tx mid november so my season was coming to a close. I was holding out for the brow tine buck, split g2 buck or the monster 10. Well last week of bow season I made a mistake and shot at the split g2 buck while he was on full alert. Needless to say he dodged it like quick and crazy (dropped and rolled right arrow went right in front of his chest at 22 yards). I had a score to settle with this deer now. After 4 month's of watching him 5,000+ game cam pics and a missed encounter guess who walked out opening morning of Rifle season. THF I would like you to meet the Split G2 buck! First pic's of him were actually captured in june! Shot him the evening of Nov. 2nd.  This is a picture of him under my hole feeder the morning of the day I shot him.  And here he is hanging out at my house that evening!  Total kill's from the $400 lease were 2 turkeys 3 does and one good buck. Not bad I'd say and there are over 7-8 shooter's still in there and I had 20 plus encounters with 120+" deer this last season. Got a few hog's on camera but not many thank goodness.

That is an outstanding story....CONGRATS. I grew up knocking on doors as a kids and giving the farmer part of our harvest. Best thing my dad ever taught me.

does this mean your step dad and uncle will need a guy? lol no we are leasing it again this year obviously and hopes are to find that brow tine buck if he makes it thru the year. I'm not sure what he scored he was just a decent buck compared to the others out there. I did have a few encounter's with the brow tine buck and had my bow in my hand once with him but just couldn't get the shot.

You are blessed that the coons do not wipe you out in a night. If I had feeders like that on my ranches they would be empty in an hour!

Congrats on the buck Yeah man I saw that brow tine buck a few times and never could connect with him so this guy got it instead. I had pic's of him after season though so he will be even bigger next year and we are still feeding. Talked to the guy yesterday and we are leased up again thru next year
