Has anybody tried the nosler 150 gr. Accubonds? Do you think they're a good round for the 270 or should I stay with the 130 gr. pills? This will be my first experience with the 270 and most people I talk to say the 130 gr is the way to go. Any opinions???

I load 140 accubonds behind 56 grains of 4831 for my brothers sako. I really like the 140 over both the 130&150..

I have always shot the 130 gr. Remington Core Lokt in my .270's. I have used them on Exotics here, Red Stag in NZ and Mule Deer in Alberta/Texas along with all the rest of the game in Texas.

I shoot 150 gr Federal Premium through one and 130 gr Barnes in the other. Both tend to hit whatever they're pointed at.
Practice doesn’t make perfect. Practice makes permanent.

i like 130 grain hornady interlocks.
130 is the way to go in the .270

All guns are different. My .270 will not group 130 grain bullets. It is a different story with 140's. I like Hornady Custom factory ammo.

For Texas whitetail, almost any 130 grain standard cup-and-core bullet will work just fine. I took a very nice New Mexico mule deer with a 140 grain Accubond and found them to be very accurate in two of my rifles.

Not having shot any 270AB's, but mebbe couple of "who knows how many" K's of other C&C's in various brands and bullet weights over the last 35-40 years...the comment of "Go with what YOUR gun shoots best!!" is the best advice I could give as well.
As far as 130gr vs 150gr'ers same song 3rd verse. Personally I never found much difference in drop at under 3-350 yards, and I can count the number of KIA's I've made over 400 yards on one hand 'cause I like to get MUCHMO' Closer if at all possible. OBTW 150's will put a hurt on WTails & hogs from any angle almost regardless of shot placement...EX: I hit a big mature 3 yr old freaky spike in the left front foot at about 150 yards when he passed me on a dead run. Upon further examination the bullet had passed thru the ankle just above the hoof, left front shoulder and exited the right front shoulder and he was dead when he hit the ground ... using a 150gr Speer SP Hot Core in a case stretching load that my rifle really liked.
I like Nosler AB's in other calibers way bigtime better than the BT's but that's from the bad old days experiences before Nosler changed the BT's jacket thickness in the larger calibers and designated some of them as Hunting Bullets...Just Not Sure where the change point is in bullet diameter for the thicker BT jackets 'cause I had switched to Speer, Sierra and some Hornady before I stumbled into a another steal of a deal on Blem RedBox 130's.
But then I switched to Speer at the time mainly 'cause I bought a Suburban Load of little yellow box's one time at less than 10 cents on the wholesale dollar, that busted the sidewalls of the 2 rear tires getting my Goodies home from out of state. The dealer could not sell the Speers and I had never invested the time to find out if they were any good...and since then shot them very successfully with 5-6 different rifles for over 20 years from that buy.
It's my understanding that the only difference between a BT & the AB's is that the AB's are a BONDED Bullet aka the core is hot glued into the jacket kinda thing. BT's always shot accurately ...
Right now I am shooting Nosler 130gr Flat Base Old Red Box Style SP Blems, and Sierra 140gr HPBT's at max max H4831SC & RL22 loads and getting all the performance I could expect with sub MOA groups and DRT's using a Tikka T3 SS/syn Lite...only 'cause I finally ran out of the Speers and had to shoot some old bullets I had left over. When this batch of 5-600+ RedBox 130's & 140gr BTHP Sierra's is used up I'll get back into the Blem Nosler 150gr PT's I bought loooong time ago for $11 a bag and some "new" 10 year old Speer Hot Core 130gr'ers I traded for. IMO Old bullets don't "spoil" within their design parameters but the dang old paper red box Hornady's do get a black film on 'em that looks terrible and is the dickens to get cleaned off. Cheers Ron

I used a custom 270 to cull shoot for about 5 yrs. mostly w/100 grain varmiters handloaded and head shots..we had cows in the pasture..but I personally think that you can get all the projectile you need w/this caliber in 130 grain provided the projectile is right for the job and a quality bullet..I used Barnes Handloads...and they alway shot thru the animal..DRT..But I've used about every one normally used by hunters and they all kill if you shoot head or neck shots..DD

I always like the 130's in my 270. I shoot 140 gr accubonds in my 280 with impressive results.

I shoot 150 grain CoreLokts out of my CDL 700 .270. I am about to switch to 130 grain seeing as I lost a whole quarter of my last deer I shot with 150 grain.

You're more likely to see MORE meat destruction with a lighter, faster bullet; not less.

skeeter22 is correct. You might take the most accurate of any load mentioned by someone else and it group 3" at 100 yds in your particular gun. The only way to see if it will group tight in your gun is to work up loads with the different bullet/powder combinations and go to the range. The most accurate round for your gun may be the round that produced the biggest group in someone elses' gun even though the guns are the same make, etc. There just ain't no shortcuts in this.

Thanks for the info guys. I've been loading for sometime and understand you gotta find the load a particular gun likes. I asked a couple of friends the same question and got the same split response I got here. I really wasn't looking for any shortcuts just what people thought and I got exactly that. This is my first 270 and I was just looking for a starting point. Once again, thanks a bunch fellers!!!

Ive had a .270 since I was 14yo and have tried just about every bullet from handloaded to factory and the 140gr accubond has been my hands down favorite for penetration, accuracy and on game expansion.
I dont remember the exact load but I use 140gr. accubond with reloader 22 powder loaded 1 full grain under max.

I have been shooting a 270 for over 40 years. I do like the 130 grain bullet, but the 140 grain Accubond is my all time favorite!! I have taken many whitetail and mule deer with the 140 grain and all have been 1 shot kills. Can't go wrong with the 140 grain Nosler Accubond!!
