I was interested in bow hunting long ago and just as I started getting into it I went off to college and forgot all about it. My old bow was kept in storage for the last 20 years (it was only a few months old when it was packed up) and resurfaced recently, I'm going to go pick it up this weekend. Should I even attempt to shoot this? Or should I expect the string to disintegrate into dust if I go full draw smile

I've been looking at new bows lately so this is a timely find for a little practice, but I wanted to check first before I try shooting this and potentially injure myself.

swing by a pro shop on your way back from getting it and have them give it a once over. They will tell you every thing.

What ETAB said is sound advice. Just understand that an older bow will be like driving a 60s model truck compared to a new truck, but hey, that's okay.

Take it to a bow shop and have em service it up. It will probably still shoot great.

I agree with having a shop give it a once over. But whatever you do don't let them talk you into trying a current bow. They've changed quite a bit, and you may feel compelled to part with some real money.

The oldercbows had issues with limb twist... Just be careful

Make sure no one draws it back! Also tell the bow shop that it has been decades since the string has been pulled. It can be dangerous.

for sure bowshop, second not running out and buying a new one. the age is immaterial as long as it is in sound shooting order. people killed things with those older bows everyday back then
