It appears that I must by a $48 permit in order to receive that booklet that shows all of the public land in it. I also cannot find maps on line...the only one I did find so far was old sabine bottom wma. Well the permit expires in august and then you must buy another one. They will send the booklet to you when you purchase a permit from what I understand. So, I need to be scouting right now, but I can't hardly do that without a good map. anybody can shed light on this?

You cannot access the land to scout it if you do not currently hold an annual public hunting permit. That is your "license" to trespass on those pieces of land, some of which are private property that the owners have enrolled in the system.
Good luck, T

I have the $12 access only pass which allows you to scout all you want.

I stand corrected as I didn't know that was an option. Looking on the TPWD website though, you are eligble to receive the map booklet with that permit. Everytime I've bought the APH permit they've mailed me the booklet unless I make the purchase at the TPWD office; then they'll hand it to you.
Either way, the links that jeh7mmmag posted will allow you to download the entire map booklet if you wish.
Good luck, T
