I've considered deer hunting there but expect it would be covered in hunters from the city. Want do you know?

Havent been in about 15 years but know someone who still hunts it. I have been told if u get to the more isolated areas there are some nice deer. Beware of the park rangers they are not scared to write tickets

Don't hunt it on the weekends. Weekdays are good. Christmas Day is best. Thanksgiving is no good.

I live in Decatur right by the grasslands, and I can tell you honestly that they receive way too much pressure. Even if you find smaller isolated tracts, it's not like you just uncovered a secret. In the last 10 years it's gone from hearing an occasional shot, to sounding like WW2, and it's from people just getting bored and shooting. My property is by Black Creek, and during deer season these days, starting after opening day of bow season, the bucks go completely nocturnal, and don't go back to normal patterns until almost March. Plus, with the AR going into effect 2 years ago, the chances of seeing a shooter are next to nothing, compared to 1 in a 1000 before.

It can be decent if you can get into the right areas. There is a landlocked area that was really good years ago, but there was no legal way to get to it without permission from surrounding landowners. I havent been in a long time though.

Christmas morning is the best...Seriously. Or weekdays towards the end of the season.
Life is too short, as is. Don't chance it. Don't text and drive.
