On my lease in Nemo near Glenrose I went over to the mountain ( we call it) to check out my brothers feeder and stand. He has not been able to make it down to hunt yet and wanted to make sure all is good for him. In doing so we came across a couple of rubs on small trees right next to each other. They where both rubbed raw from about my ankles all the way to even with my shoulders. I have never seen whitetails leave a rub like this. It was up on the edge of a Cedar break on the side of a hill, the two trees where only saplings. My questions is... There was 7 or 8 Elk that got out of a Ranch near by and one has been spotted next to the Ranch I hunt. Do Elk make rubs like a Whitetail Buck and or has anyone ever seen a rub that tall?

Elk definitely make rubs that tall. Have you noticed very large droppings in the same area?

Not near the rubs but about 200 yards away nearing a stock tank there where some dropping, clumps that I did not recognize. We have Cows and a couple of horses and I know it wasn't from them. I sat on the side of the Hill for about 2 hours and used a cow elk call I bought, the wind was howling around the base of the hill and never got a responce. This one Bull has been spotted with Deer in a Creek branch a couple of times around 300 yards from the entrance to our Ranch on our Ranchers Brothers place.

Never seen a rub that tall from a whitetail, but I hunted on a ranch that had a few exotics and the elk made rubs like what you are talking about.

Axis rubs are the most amazing to me, they will clean a tree thats 12" in diameter from the ground to about 4' high.
