I've used it and still like Varget better.

I've used it and still like Varget better. Agreed, Benchmark might burn off too fast for 308. What barrel length are you loading for? You might be able to get away with it in a 16", but longer than that, and you'll need a slower burning powder.

20 inch barrel. I was just curious about it. I usually load varget but have not been able to acquire any as of late. I picked up a pound of this from the local shop as it was the only rifle powder there. Thanks for the help.

You're gonna end up running into pressure at a lower velocity than Varget will yield.

I shot a lot of Benchmark through my Remmy 5R. I had better results with it than Varget.
