I just started duck hunting this past year when a couple of buddies talked me into it, I picked up some cheap gear from cabelas out of the bargain cave. I seem to enjoy it quite a bit. What would be some good gear to get that will last since I'm getting serious with it.

a nice rain coat. sometimes you might have to get a little wet to have a great pay off. if you have to hike in, a jet sled makes a HUGE difference

A GPS to find your Slemp-blind and to give you coordinates to post your hunting locations on this site. Now is a good time to buy a case of shells. Wear layers. Cheap fleece is usually as good as expensive fleece as long as you have a good shell. Watch for sales on fleece (and shells) at Cabela's or BPS. Heck, just join Ducks Unlimited and they will send you a fleece. Dont go crazy with stuff all at once pace yourself and go broke slowly.

Yep duck hunting is more addicting than any drug. @quintcarney...it's not a joke, I laughed it off too. Very enjoyable but very invasive on the day to day life you are leaving. Welcome to the money pit.
