Ok so I know how these forums work so I am not at all asking for any specific spots or anything like that rather just a little information.

I live in Denton county and there are quite a few local geese around which leads me to believe that there is not much hunting pressure put on geese around here. I am wondering if this is true. Does any one on here hunt Geese around my area, in north Texas, southern Oklahoma? I am from Montana and I grew up slaying Honkers and I miss it oh so much. I would love to find some place that I could knockdown some geese. I am looking for any and all information I can get my hands on guides, leases anything I would like to keep the driving to no more than 2 hrs from Denton.

If I can get my hands on some information and a location I will even take a couple guys with me if they want to go.

Hummmmmmm Not for geese , But you do know Winnie is known for goose hunting. Yup it's all private, but lots of geese.

Sam Rayburn don't have any private land adjacent to the water.

I have never seen geese on rayburn. I thought i have a couple times, but they just turned out to be cormorants

Seriously tho, I moved down here a couple years ago from Michigan and I was used to slaying those giant canadas too. I miss it like crazy. I know how ya feel.

Also sorry Team Hillbilly your right as always my lease is not on the lake the 12,000 acres we lease ajoins the Corp land that is hard to access unless you luanch a boat and drive across BUT that doesnt happen on our side very offen from what I have been told. Again like I said I have no clue about Geese but was just told that the lake MIGHT be a good area. My bad didnt mean to give anyone a bad idea

If you want to shoot big honks go to OK or north even more, lessers go west, lessers, speck, and snows head south.
There are a lot of places in texas that hold huntable #'s of geese other than the BIG 2, NW and SE TX, but you have to get out and look, if I can help let me know.

ramit315, If your lease is 12K then it has to be one of two. Fairly good area by East Texas standards. I'm just giving you a heads up about the goose hunting here on Sam Rayburn, Yup there is a few diver ducks around from time to time. Have Fun and be sure you post some of them Rayburn Geese for the rest of us. I'll be down in Winnie, on China Rd, goose hunting myself

I find them North in Hunt,Fannin & Grayson Countys, and South in Winnie down to the upper coast area. PM Allen if you need more specific details.
