Any tricks on clipping puppies nails. When we first brought her home, I could clip them while she was asleep. Now, it ain't happening. I have tried to just use a file and file them down or at least take the sharp point off, but she aint having anything to do with that either. Just looking for suggestions.
Thanks

Cracker is the toughest I've ever seen about getting her nails clipped. I was at a trial over the weekend. I had to hold her down to get some staples removed. My friend went ahead and clipped her nails while I had her down.
I have a friend who has an elictric grinder. You might Google and find one of those.

I just take mine to petsmart rather than going through a big wrestling match and possible injury.

I started both of mine off using two people, one to hold them down and the other doing the trimming. We always made a big deal out of it when it was over and give them a treat. Now, they just let me do it by myself and will stand and bark at me until they get the treat afterward!

thanks guys. I have used the cordless dremel on my other lab. she really didnt like it so I just went back to cutter. Then again, I could show them to her and she would roll over on her back and let me get it done. then lay their and let me file them down to take edges off. I was very spoiled on that low maintenance girl. This one is HM so far.
MS-what does Petsmart do that is any different? I'mm not big on taking animals in there. Only time I took my last lab, she got sick

I just use regular dog nail clippers. I sit him on the tail gate of my truck and push up on his collar so he can't look down at me. He will try and stand or back up sometimes. I just make him sit down again.
Putting them on the tailgate gets them up to your level. Seems easier to me

They are strangers to the dog so its not a big for the dog. They also have stands to put the dog on so it doesn't move all over the place

Now if they try to pull away I will squeeze the foot(not enough to hurt) they relax and I let off on the pressure.
Shopping with your husband is like hunting with the game warden. Experience is what you get, when you didn't get what you wanted.

I do like the idea of getting pup on your level. This is worth repeating, but all dogs are different.
