I usually hunt turkey with a 22 or 17 but this year im gonna give a new scattergun I got a try. Its a tristar cobra tacticool semiauto, but takes chokes I have a modified full and xfull choke for it 12ga 20 in barrel. what choke with what shot would work best for 45-50 yards max. I hope I can call them in closer but usually thats about as good as I can before they bust me lol. I can use up to 3in shells.

I like the heavy shot #6 lots of pellets and patterns well from both my guns. I have been shooting Remington #6 HD 3.5 inch and 55 yards is and in is a dead bird walking with my rig.
Only way to know for sure though is to try some different ones on the pattern board to see which is best. For years I used #5 lead 2 3/4 shells in a Beretta 585 full and modified barrels. Within 50 yards that is a deadly gun. Might hunt with it some this year for the heck of it.

There's only one way to TRULY find out: test some shell/choke combinations. It really all depends on your shotgun, specific choke, and shell matchup.
I have a 12g Beretta Pintail. It likes 3" Federal #6 Flitecontrol with a Full choke. I've noticed that an extra full choke overconstricts it to where it starts to open up again.
If I were going to try a choke/shell combo without testing it would be safest to use a full choke with #5 shot shells (happy-medium for turkey).

^^^^ Need to just pattern it at first so you'll know what your capabilities are.

In a study on shot energy they determined #5 lead and #6 heavy shot have energy to break a turkey neck or skull at 50 yards. From my experience that holds true

work on your camo. You should be able to get them in closer than that.
