I would think that hogs would be much tougher that deer simply due to smaller size.

Those hogs are real tough. I loose a majority of the ones I stick with an arrow. But I will say that I dont put a ton of effort into recovery like I do with deer. I am not at all interested in traveling into the thick stuff looking for an injured pig.
All ready

I feel the need to recover all game I hit. It always bothers me when I cannot recover an animal. Brandon I would try a using different broadheads until I found one that worked a bit better.

good luck-Jerry I shot two hogs, one i hit high in the back, one I hit in teh side of the jaw. the other two were clean misses. I shoot a 70# bow with a rage broadhead, my equipment isn't the problem, It's my accuracy. However, a pack of rage heads are $40, the sidewinders I picked up are $24. Gonna try those out.

To be honest I am not a big rage fan. Perhaps you could bring your poundage down a bit. It may help your accuracy. Are you practicing with your broadheads? It is easier to do with a fixed blade. You will need a target that accomodates broadheads. They do shoot different. (broadheads)

Look up broadheads on Ebay and you can pick some up for considerably less than retail. Jerry is dead on with the fixed blades

I won't even waste a Rage on a pig. I keep some ol' trusty thunderheads in my box and 1-2 in the quiver for just an occasion.

Nap thunderheads do the dirty to a pig for sure. I'm 4 for 5 on recovering pigs. The lost one was a clean pass through, and I stuck the pig behind it. Found blood, looked for it, but never did find it. I'm running 68 lbs out of a hoyt Maxxis. But then again, I always wait for that quartering away shot. And all my shots have been made at 30 yards. Just remember to breathe, lol. And make sure that you're not punching the trigger.

Target shooting and shooting a live animal is sometimes a lot different and harder. Pigs tend to always be in motion and it is harder to draw down on the target with as much accuracy. As far as I am concerned learing to develop your skills on hogs is smart. Much rather see a guy loose a pig than a nice buck. As far as broadheads I use both Rage expandables and sometimes I use my "old fashiond" Thunderhead fixed baldes. Both do unbelievable damage if they are hit right. Most of mine have been pass thrus with huge blood trails but everyonce in a while I don't get a pass thru and they are much harder to trail. Without an exit hole they often don't bleed out. The blood stays inside the cavity so recovery is more difficult. Shooting them in the jaw doesn't help lol

after a 40 min stalk this evening on a herd of pigs, got as good as a shot as I was gonna be presented with, let one fly on a 100lb. sow and the sidewinder blew thru her at 42 yards.
Wasn't the best shot in the world(they never stay still) but I watched her run about 150 yards and then pitch over then kicked around a bit. let her sit for about 30 min and then went and picked her up.
I'll post pics shortly

Who ever invented the phrase "Bleeding like a stuck pig" was a liar. I have stuck alot of pigs and those things hardly bleed at all. They are tough and can be hard to recover.

TF Panther you got that right. The two I shot and luckily recovered and also my two buddies pigs left very sparse blood trails with double lung hits!!

TF Panther you got that right. The two I shot and luckily recovered and also my two buddies pigs left very sparse blood trails with double lung hits!! we shot two pigs, both around the same size. My buddy drilled his in the shoulder with one of those cheap store brand mech. broadheads from bass pro and his pig fell within 80 yards, and let me tell you, it BLED! I didn't follow the blood trail on mine because It fell within sight, but before it fell I could see the blood spot on its side. I think the trick to making a pig bleed is hittin an artery. I've shot alot with a rifle that were DRT that didn't bleed a drop
