A good friend and avid coyote hunter called me a while back and told me he had called in and shot a white yote. This was up in north west Illinois in whiteside county where I grew up. He shipped it to me and I about choked on my coffee when I opened the box. He is a young male dog. Not albino, he had a dark nose and pads, regular colored eyes, and some blonde tips on his ears and back. I spent quite a bit of time mounting him because I'm sure this is a once in a lifetime dog. No matter how I adjusted his eyes they just look kind of bugged out. From all of the referances Ive looked at I gathered the eyes should be fairly round. Not all squinty and evil looking. Since he has no pigmant to convey depth or shape it just looks strange to me. Other than that I am very happy with how he turned out. He has very long thick hair compaired to our yotes down here. I am about to start on the base in a few weeks. I just painted him up this weekend Hope you like him, John

Beautiful animal for sure. You are lucky to got your hands on one of them as they go for big money if you have to buy the hide. Study your reference pictures some more. Not bad for your first dog.

Thanks Mike, I'm at the part of this that I hate. I'm a perfectionist and hate it when something just seems a bit off. I found quickly the form needed lots of tweeking. My biggest problem was beeing affraid to take to much off. In retrospect I think claying out the brows a bit more and taking more out below the eyes towards the nose may have fixed it. I'll admit I went into this thinking it would be easier than a cat. He was deceptively difficult. I guess if it was easy it wouldnt be fun.

thanks guys, its something in the gene pool in that area. One of my other old friends shot another white one within 5 miles of where this one was shot. Guess somewhere back in the family tree of that pack a yellow lab got in the mix or something. And thank you for the compliments on the mount. This was my first full body mount yote. It was a lot of fun but I have room to get better for sure.

When I guided on the king ranch my boss shot one that I was after. We had been seeing him but I never got a shot on him. He texted me when I was in class one day and said he got him. I was a little upset because he didn't want him and our boss didn't want to mount him either. Luckily the king ranch did and put it in their saddle shop. He shot another one he couldn't find and my wife saw one on the ranch when she was headed to class in Alice on our part of the ranch. Kinda weird because on this part of the ranch there were several piebald deer.

Man, yall brought back an old thread of mine. Im still pretty happy I got to mount that for him. Since doing this mount I have talked with Gabe, the guy that shot it and he has seen another one in the same area this summer. He had it cross the road in front of him and duck into a soy bean field. Im hoping someone I know shoots it so I can see it and compair it to this one. John

This is him all done the day the day before I dropped him off. He wanted a simple snow covered base.
