When your party "Democrats" started calling the NRA a a "terrorist organization" which it has and stopped calling Jihadist "terrorist" in order to be more sensitive to terrorist, I ceased considering Democrats "Americans".

It appears that DHS is not getting 2700+ MRAPS. The DOD is upgrading 2717 existing MRAPs that have come back from Iraq or are heading for Afghanistan. DHS, depending on who you ask, has between 25 and 100 MRAPs scattered across all its agencies, across all fifty states and the territories. For the most part those apparently have been one for one replacements of obsolete armored vehicles owned by different agencies.

Because the violence on the border is getting worse. That's one reason.

If they are worried about the border and need armor, why not give it to the Border Patrol. You know, the orginization designed to Patol the Border.

Again.....why do we even need DHS? If the BP, DEA, FBI etc etc needs more people then hire more people do not create another organization that duplicates what we already have in place.

I have no idea when the DHS is planning on deploying but the links I posted seem to indicate the 2700+ MRAPS are for the DoD (Department of Defence) not the DHS. THEY need them for obvious reasons.

To this point, we don't need a DHS but stick with the facts and you make a better argument. When people freak out because the DHS is buying 1b+ rounds and 2700+ MRAPS and that information turns out not to be true the valid arguments against these organizations become less effective.

Customs and Border Patrol is part of DHS. Thought that was common knowledge. Notice the environment in the pictures taken of these vehicles? Nearly every one I have seen is desert.

We had customs, BP and the Coast Guard before DHS so can anyone tell me why we need another bureaucracy to sit above these entity’s? Can anyone tell me why we need the DHS? What new essential roll do they fill (please don't anyone say TSA lol)? Seems like a waste of tax dollars to me.

Godfather, I have no problem with DOD having armor. These are strange times we are in for sure though.

We are having Congressional debates on the use of Surveillence Drones in America not limited to the border.

We are having debates on gun control lead by people who have called for outright confiscation in the past.

We have a law that states that US citizens can be held indefinitly without trial or counsel, on the assumption that they "may" be a threat.

We have a leader that called for a Civillian Defense force that was just as well armed and funded as our military.

It took our own Atty General a week to get back to Congress with a answer on whether or not the prez could launch a drone strike on US Citizens in the US, After a 2 day philibuster forced the issue.

These are just a few and yet some wonder why people are concerned and feel threatened.

Everything above is fact and is scary as heck. When we have facts on our side we don't need interweb rumors (DHS armor by the 1000's)making us look like a bunch of tinfoil had wearing nut jobs (no offence to tinfoil hat wearing nutjobs)
