Buy Swarovski and never regret buying an over priced luppy, cause you will always wish you would of bought the Swarovski.

Unless you are getting an Leo/ Military discount on the MK4 I would go Swarovski.

I own both models. I have 4 different variations of the the Mark IV and 2 Swaro. My favorite Mark IV is the fixed 10x40 LR/T M3 and it is $1499.99 on optics planet. The Leupold Mark IV 4.5x14x40 Duplex sells for $749.99 on optics planet. There are many different Mark IV's by Leupold. That would be the price difference Mr Dial. The Swaro Z3 4x12x50 BT Reticle sells for $1059.00 on optics plant so the Mark IV is the better deal price wise. If money is not a factor go with the Swaro. In my opinion the Swaro is a lot more clear . Both Scopes have a lifetime warranty. Both scopes are quality scopes.

I don't have a lot of money and would need to justify the difference.

Neither. Mil dot reticle and exposed moa turret for that kind of money. Or mil/ mil would also work. Bdu reticles are worthless because they can't adjust for felt recoil or different ammo. Duplex reticle is also not as useful as mil reticle. If ur gonna spend that kind of bucks for a scope I think there is a better way

My whole life ive heard how much better zeis is than leupold and I have still yet to see it.
Do I think leupold is the be all end all? No, but I think alot of people just like to dog on them and call them overpriced when there realy isnt much if any difference.
My money would be going after a leupold or a vortex.

This is going on a hunting weight 260. End weight with optics I want around 8 lbs. I will not be shooting matches or anything special. I don't have to have bt or turrets but if I ever needed them for a longer shot I might want them.

I like Leupold products..
But in your case, the Z3 with the 4w reticle would absolutely be my choice hands down.

just get a simply 4-12x40 Vx3 CDS and put the extra $ toward something useful. If you want a BDC style reticle then get the B&C ret. instead of the CDS.

You guys are mostly comparing Apples to Apples..this is mostly prefrence..2 or 3 major optics mfg choose thru the very best ground glass each yr..2nds is where most of the other mfgs get theirs and worse..Zeiss, Swaro., Leica, ect..get first dibs..on German Glass..I have had excellent Mark III, and Mark IV Leupolds and some very good Zeiss Conquest...and for the price range they were mostly comparable..best test for hunting glass is clear days lots of range..then at about 9:30PM w/out light check out what it gathers..I had a Leupold 3X10X50 Mark III, and a Burris 6X24 varmit that passed the last one..the Zeiss was a poor 3rd on 3X.

lol, just WHERE does all this "information" come from??
do camera makers have to get "dibs" ? Binocular makers? Telescope glass on a dibs basis? is it a yearly auction? qui-bid?
really, thats just silly.
h**ll no one including myself even knows what KIND of glass they use. (there is more than one kind) well, except for Minox Scopes, they advertise thier glass type. and Mueller. they use crap. id rather have plastic lenses than what mueller uses.
CDS... save your money.
but what the hay.

Swaro Z3 4x12x50 BT Reticle $1059
How bout, neither? Have I mentioned Mil reticle, Mil turrets before? Add first focal plane, side focus, and you've got it all covered. It is going on a .260 afterall! Don't handicap that hotrod with the wrong scope. I'll show you how to squeeze everything available from a Mil/ Mil. For those that say they're not for hunting. Suck it, they are!
