Most bulls I've seen or shot never broke 700lbs and some were hosses. Nice Nilgai none the less.
My personal best was 550 and change with 9 6/8" horns.

1,000+ lbs???? Really?? Something smells, and I think it is something other than teen spirit. Big bull. Considering 99% of all bull elk don't weigh 1000 pounds, I am thinking your scale is broke.

Big bull but what did you weigh it on? You have a scale on the ranch that can weigh something that big?

I would have to see it weighed in person to believe that a Blue bull would weigh that much.

He's a pretty chunky boy but 1000 I'm not sure of that.

Beautiful animal, AWESOME oryx, best I have seen on this site. Latley the peanut gallery has been mmmm very aggresive towards others posting animals or hunts for sale, not sure why. U have graet animals on yur web site no matter how much it weighs. The local experts in my opion are getting out of had, just like the Axis hunts the folks have posted resently. STOP enjoy life or get a life

That would put him pushing 900 if you used the conversion of cattle 33 percent! that was grass only i bet with protein feed they could get there!

STOP enjoy life or get a life No one is questioning that it's a great bull, and I agree, stellar Scimitar. I'm real happy for the hunters and for the Ranch they came off of. However, if you're going to post up an extreme claim without proof you need to be prepared to back it up or take some flack. No different than if I'd said check out this 300lb Hill Country Whitetail or 20lb Largemouth I just landed. This is a great place to share, but we should all agree to stick to the truth. Integrity matters. I hunted the King for a few years. Saw many many bulls put into the log book. Never saw one that even got close to 1,000 lbs. And, if they indeed weighed that bull and he was over 1k lbs I'll gladly chow down on a big serving of Crow.

Roosvelt bull elk are bigger than Shiras and Eastern Canadian moose are. Rocky Mountain elk, which are over 90 percent of the total population of elk in North America unless very well fed generally are 700-900 pound bulls.

Ive been hunting out west for over 30 years and have never seen a true 1K lb rocky mountain elk. Now i've heard of lots of them being killed. Mostly by hunters that have not seen to many elk alive or dead. Some of the elk I've helped break down and pact out seemed to weigh at least a ton by the time we got back to camp but were really somewhere between 650/750. Could a RM bull weigh 1/2 a ton, heck yea they could but I've never seen one that(really)did. I'll go back to my original post and say great looking blue bull and dammmmmmmmmm those are some big Oryx. Baker

I know mine was 670 field dressed i have no idea what the guts weighed!i have a picture somewhere of him hanging on the scales now that i've thought about it it was over 20 years ago and it may have been the kennedy ranch. Back when they opened it up again sarita safaris those were the days it had been closed for 50 years or so you had to honk at the deer they had'nt been shot at.

I just shot a really big mature bull last week and the guides guessed his weight at around 600-700 lbs. They did not have a scale at the ranch. I know I have shot quite a few elk and this Nilgai was about as big as most of the elk (except our Candian elk) and they all weighed around 600-800 lbs Hard to believe one could grow 30-40% bigger

BowTech, I just took it into the processor but have heard it is as good or better than Axis which is regarded as the best wild game of all. I will let you know in a few weeks.

1000 lbs is huge, my elk was over 800 this season. I was at 287 for the 4 quarters on the scale and the nilgai definitely isn't as big. Great bull none the less, congrats to the hunter.

Damn quite the over reaction. Great bull. The meat is excellent. Personal preference but axis is better to me.
