I have two 5 gallon buckets of corn/milo that I have been souring. Its gone beyond that sick sweet smell and now it just stinks. Will it still pull in the hogs?

I had some rotten corn not soured it was rotten black stank had maggots in it I thought nothing would ever eat it but I poured it on a stump anyway next weekend I went back and pulled the stump out of the ground. Hogs had eaten it and rooted around where the water was and even took some chunks off the stump.

Absolutely, the stronger the smell, the better they like it and it carries much better on the wind. Can't get soured feed too ripe for hogs or catfish!!
Had some over a year old outside in a large garbage can and when my nephews went to get a bucket of it for catfishing, they were literally gagging it was so strong. Being downwind 100 yds or so at the house watching them, when the smell hit me, I caused a gag-reflex myself.
Caught the dickens out of catfish and been trapping hogs with it regularly.

It will work. A few years ago I put some in an bathtub and covered it in water It kept raining so the hogs never got to it. When I got out there working one day I could smell something really bad. I found it and drained it. That night the hogs rolled the bathtub all over the place until they got every last kernel.
Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.

i poured out corn so foul I could hardly sit in my stand 40 yards away and had hogs on it within 45 minutes. I have seen deer eat rotten corn as well.

I think a pig will eat just about anything and everything. We use to sour corn and pour it on cactus that was close to the roads, feeders or anything else that we wanted cleared out a little bit. It took them a little longer to eat all of the corn but they took care of the cactus as well. Killed two birds with one stone.
NOTE: The deer in our area wouldnt frequent the feeders as much that we put it near.

Thanks, I shoulda known! Back many years ago when I was in infantry training at Benning the hog farmers would come and clean the food scraps out of a trap outside the kitchen. That stuff would gag you, but they said their hogs loved it.

Will it still pull in the hogs? Yes I baited some traps once with corn that was prob 6 months old full of maggots and caught hogs in each trap

I serviced a restaurant in Gainesville a few years ago. They saved the scraps for a local hog farmer. They would put all the waste and scrap food in a dozen or so open trash cans out back. The smell would make a buzzard puke, but he said the hogs went crazy over it, even though it had rotted past the point of being able to identify what it was.

Be careful. Some years ago, we soured some milo in a 5 gallon bucket. Before we could put it to use. The neighbors called the police about the "smell of death coming from the shed". Pretty funny splaining that one to the PD.

You know it's good when you spill some of the "juice" in the bed of your truck and have to wash it twice to get the smell to go away. I use regular corn but every now and then I'll make some "ripe" corn for the hogs.
Btw- sour milo is better for the hogs. If you can get some cattle "cake" that's even better!
