I recently purchased a new Savage long range hunter in 6.5 Creedmoor. What can you guys tell me about the round?

Good round, I'd be happy to own one. I do reload, and if you
don't you might want to learn how. Otherwise, only Hornady
makes ammo.

It's very similar to .260, but a little shorter and a little
less case capacity. It was geared towards the AR-10 platform
so it could feed long bullets more reliably. It has an improved
shoulder angle as well, so in theory that helps accuracy.

I love me some 6.5

Cool deal. I bought the gun and all the reloading stuff. I just need brass and bullets.

It'll kill just about anything you want it to. It was tied with the most popular chambering in the top 20 Tactical competitive shooters last year. Tied with the .260. Pretty fast, very consistant, supersonic to waaaaay out there. My .260 is supersonic to 1450 yards with a 2000' DA. The 6.5 Creed will be right there with it. Its a wind cheater. Did I forget any pro?

The only con is barrel life. It will live longer than the hot loaded .243s but not even close to the barrel life of a .308. It just depends how its loaded on how long it will last.

Buy a lot of factory ammo first, then shoot it and reload it. I think you come out ahead that way. I love 6.5 Creedmoor.
