I'm looking for a real cheap game camera. I do not want to worry about it in case it gets stolen. Will be hunting public lands.
I see that cameras that take 4-5 megapixel pics run $80-$120. I saw a cheap'o at Academy for $36 but it only has 300k pixel pics... That seems super low.
Does anyone make one thats in-between, like 1-2 meg? I do not need to have great pics. I will not blow them up or most likely will not use them for anything except scouting. But 300k seems too low for any standards.
Thanks for your input.

I have a moutltie 3.1 that seems to do an ok job. If the flash is off the battery life is ok, if is is on the battery life stinks. It is digital.

Wildview makes a cheap unit. Gander Mt used to sell them. I have one, but it's cheap and I don't use it except to deter trespassers.

I usually use low res setting and take 32kb pics. I will bet any camera will work well for you. Just check the battery life on them or get a solar panel and you'll be all set.

BPS has the Moultries Game Spy 4.0 dig with flash option on sale for 69.00 and I picked one up last week and went and set it out Saturday at 3:00 p.m. and checked it Sunday at 10:00 a.m. before I left the lease and it had 10 shots of does and seem to work just fine. I had bought a busnell about 3 years ago for 99.00 and it is pure junk. The sensitivity may bit a little strong but so far so good. Thumbs up for the price, and it says battery life is 60 days, I guess I will see about that

I agree on the grass swaying to the wind on my busnell, it was crazy sensitive. Im not going back for a few weeks to check the moultrie, but over night I only had 2 pics in the dark that was undescrible. Hope its not tooo bad.

I have a couple of the wildview cameras, first edition. They are good for .3 megapixels but a little grainy if you enlarge the pic. The trigger time is slow so you might not get the animal if you are trail watching. I noticed they now have an IR flash camera that is only 120.00, might be worth checkin into.

I bought a Wildview first edition last night for $34.99.
Tested it and your right, it takes a long 2-3 seconds to take the picture. But thats OK as I will have it hidden watching the feeder.
Any idea what the battery life is h20thief? Just wondering if I should space the pictures 20 minutes to save battery juice.

I set mine at the 1 minute mark to catch as much as possible. With the 4 C batteries I was getting around 400 pics on a SD card. I think it would last about 2-3 weeks max.
I retrofitted my cameras with a solar charger and rechargable battery mounted to an ammo can on a stand. Now I'm getting 900 plus pics with the battery still in good shape. I checked it after about 6 weeks this last time just cause my lease is 4 hours away.
