Ok guys need your opinion got me a spot picked out on a new lease on the Devils River and when I say it's way in the back of the ranch I meen way back and about as ruff as you can imagine . Now the only way to get to my spot is up an old sizmagraph trail straight up a mountain and it's not that bad till you get to the top where there 3 ledges to go up now on the last trip To the lease I made it up with my ranger and pretty scarry . So my question is do you think it would easier and safer on my 850 Polaris sportsman or should I stick to the ranger ? Also which one do you think will turn over easier?

i would think the Ranger would be safer with independant suspinsion and a lower center of gravity.

Ride to the 3 ledges and walk the rest of the way, not worth an accident in the dark. Used to hunt that area down Dolan Creek Road, still have my 79 F250 4x4 that had on that place, loved everything about that area except the 9hr drive to get there.

Thanks guys and I had much rather take the ranger and as far as walking goes it's a flat out 45min walk from the ledges cause I walked it and if I didn't already have a few trail cam pics of a hoss I would just find another spot. I was thinking of taking some bags of sacreate up there and trying to kinda make some stair steps . If I just stacked the bags on the ledges and maybe if it rained do y'all think that would work?

Yeah it will work but it's gotta rain to make it where it won't tear some when you cross it. Five gallons of water would help. Ranger is much safer than the four wheeler.

I have a 25 gallon spray tank that goes in back of the ranger plus I can get water at the bottom of the mountain where there's a wind mill. Should I figure maybe one gal per Bag or what do you think

Spray the ground or soak to wet the ledges and leave the sacrete in the bags to let it set up. Allowing the moisture go up into the bags will be better I would think. My other concern would be if it gets wet and making those rocks very slippery for traction. I might get me a mountain bike to ride into the area from the ledges for saftey in wet or freezing icy weather. Heck invest in a dirt bike. Not worth it to chance serious injuries.
Are idiots multiplying faster than normal people?

Use a combination of both. Get one of your other hunters to follow you in the Ranger and you drive the 4-wheeler during daylight of course. Park the 4-wheeler at the top where the ridge gets narrow, put some marine stabil in the gas, put a cover on it and leave it up there for the season. Take the ranger to the top and switch over to the 4-wheeler for the narrow route to the stand.

I like the 4 wheeler you can see easy and can jump off if things got bad
If I put my wife in a high fence will her rack get bigger?

Pitchfork that's a dang good idea ! That's why I love this forum. You think you have thought of everything and then someone gives you the answer that was right in front of you the whole time. I think that maybe the safest way cause climbing it in the daylight is scary but taking my time it can be done and my real concern was in the dark . Thanks again everybody and if anyone else has an idea by all means lay it out .

Thought about the winch but I think it would take to long. And I thought about the helicopter . But you should have seen the look on my wife's face when I told her I was trading in the 4wheeler on a helicopter . Priceless!!!!!!!!!!
