This depends on how your your size and body is shaped. Im 5'6 150 lbs and a Glock 26 is kinda thick and I can feel the weight after long hours of carrying. I'd say go for the Shield.

i personally carry...dont laugh......my ol Hi Point compact 9! stop laughing....im serious. ive tried other guns and kept going back to this one. its not pretty by any means, but its reliable, just the right size for me and if i ever need a hammer, i got one on me! i have a bersa 9 in my wifes truck and a sig 9 in my truck, but i just seem to like carrying the hi point more than those

My 9mm carry is a H&K P2000SK. It is crazy comfortable and a great shooter. I am partial to the H&K's for their superior workmanship on their firearms. You will love this one. A little pricier than a Glock 19 for sure, but by far a better made weapon.

I'm carrying a Kahr PM9 after I did the comparisons below. This was just my quick and dirty comparison but I think it is reasonably accurate.

i believe you should decide what gun you want to count on to protect your life then decide how to conceal it. size should be secondary. Best advice

One you can control as good as your cell phone.
If the 2nd amendment was written just to include guns for hunting, why is there not an amendment to protect fishing poles?

I carry the Springfield EMP. 9+1 single stack, amazing trigger, very slim, 1911. It's the lil guy. all flavors by Dieselgeek, on Flickr Absolutely love my EMP also. Though I don't CC it (no license), it shoots wonderfully, is accurate as heck, and hasn't had a single malfunction yet several hundred rounds in.

I have had the Kimber solo now for a week or two and I like it. Not too heavy and its easy to carry. I've only shot 150 rounds or so and it worked great...However the first 100 happen to be Winchester ranger ammo and that little gun has a bit of a kick to her thats for sure! I shot 50 more ball ammo and it was fine. All in all a great little gun.

I've really been digging my shield! I went in this order Glock 19 Glock 26 H&K P2000SK Springfield EMP Kimber Solo M&P Shield. The last 3 were my favorites. I like the Solo a lot, but the shield I handled better and it conceals almost as well.

My 9mm Nighthawk Talon Bobtail with Speer Gold Dot 124gr loaded. About the same dimensions at a Glock 19 but what an incredible shooter. Too good to be a safe queen...
I go to Bone Daddy's for the burgers....yeah, that's why.

Bump it up a bit to the Kimber CDP Ultra in 45acp. The carry melt is great. I've carried a concealed weapon since the late 1960's and this is one of the most, if not the most, comfortable of all to carry. Get the Galco pre curved belt and their smallest little inside the belt carry holster, you never know you have it on you. 25 oz empty.

Get the largest capacity weapon you can comfortably carry. With that said I carried a Glock 19 and 23 for 5 years and recently switched to the smaller Glock 26. I didn't realize what a big difference it would be. I am 500% more comfortable carrying the 26 but wish I would have gone for the 27 in .40 S&W instead. Learn to accept the fact that no matter what you buy you will always want something different and will never end your search for the perfect carry weapon.

Depends on how you are dressed I have tried about everything I recently went back to a G19 in an IWB if I am tshirt and pants or shorts
Never really trusted the kahrs Had a Walther PPK in 40 Horrendous trigger
Gave the M&P 9C to my wife
The new M&P shield is going to be a hard one to beat Haven't shot one yet but handled and I liked it I am sure I will get one I am 100% agree with statement about M&P Shield, like you I do not have one yet (on the waiting list in Cabelas to get one), but I have handled one and I like it a lot.. Also did very extensive reading\research and I could not find one negative review about this gun.
