Hollow points will work great on hogs in that caliber.

I've unloaded a full clip on a sounder of pigs and dropped several in their tracks. One was running away and did a complete front flip when I hit him. The guy standing next to me with the AR15 was disappointed with his high dollar rifle compared to my 125.00 communist rifle. The AR was just pissing them off. The hollow point SKS was making bacon.
H20thief ------------ Positive thinking may not solve all your problems but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.

7.62x39 is a very potent round, especially at distances less than 300 yards. At longer distances will be more difficlut to hit target due to trajectory but still lethal regardless. IT ment to do damage. FMJ, HP,SP - they will bring bacon down.

I have seen FMJs rip them to shreds, use what shoots best in your gun.

I have seen FMJs rip them to shreds, use what shoots best in your gun. This is always the best advice but I have done quite a bit of research regarding the 7.62x39 round and most of the thoughts are the same regarding the Russian made HP ammo (Wolf, Tula, and such). They all say the HP acts damn near the same as FMJ and only the Soft Point expands like true hunting ammo. I'd venture to say the HP has a very thick jacket. Now American made premium ammo would be different....

Now American made premium ammo would be different.... Most are a copper coated steel jacket and the lead core has a very high antimony rate as well. And some have a bi-metal core such as the Tulammo. ...use what shoots best in your gun. This is the best advice. All will kill if you can obtain consistency. Try each..and maybe other rounds until you find what YOU shoot best in YOUR gun. BTW, I have an SKS that shoots the cheap Russian Bear stuff perfectly. I also have an AR in 7.62 x 39. It shoots the same stuff OK, but really likes Hornady better.
