I just purchased a Remington R-25 chambered in the .308 and put an Acog on top. I swear the thing weighs 50 pounds after walking around a bit with it. What would be the best way to lighten it up a bit.

This is what it currently looks like. I bought a magpul PRS sniper stock, but that probably weighs more then the current butt stock.

Any ideas?

Nice looking rig. How are you liking the acog?

To lighten it, first thing I would do is take off the bi-pod unless you actually use it. I started out with one and really only used it at the range. Also, keep your loaded round count down to about 5 when walking.

Ace stock, lighter free float tube, and a lower capacity magazine.

As mentioned earlier, lose the bipod and you will lose the weight. I sometimes use the same setup( same gun and bipod) and when I take the bipod off, it's a completely different gun.

acog is amazing and worth every penny. Right out of the box it was dead accurate at 100 yards. you can shoot it at 30 yards and you can shoot it at 600 yards.

This. I love the ACE skeleton stocks.

Also, you would be surprised how much lighter a 5 or even 10 round mag is than a 20 round mag, especially in .308.

DPMS LR-308 carbon fiber free float tube and hunt with the factory 4 round mag. I have the same gun in camo dip. If I had to do it again I would have got a SX-AR or a 7.62 X 39 AR-15. Maybe I should just HTFU and go back to the gym.

Stock and bipod would probably be the first things. Looks fun to shoot.
