This one has been on here before and was alluded to on a another recent thread, but how many folks have a problem with women and kids in a hunting camp and how many don't?
I will start it out by saying that I have no problem with it.
I have been in a bunch of hunting camps, and I can hoestly say, that I have never been in a hunting camp where I saw anything go on that a woman or kids could not handle.
I have been in camps where it was just men, ones where it was families, and have never been in a camp where folks got that carried away with themselves.
A bunch of guys together can be a little more vulgar and rude about somethings, but for the most part, I have never been in a camp where things got that far out of line.
There have been folks on here in the past that flatly stated that they would not allow a woman on to their deer lease.
I just don't understand that line of reasoning.
What does everyone else think?

While my wife does not hunt my 2 oldest daughter do, and my youngest daughter loves to go to the lease with me. I am sure she will also hunt when she gets older. I will not ever get on a lease that does not allow families to attend. I have heard all kinds of excuses. Ranging from kids are dangerous to having adult women in camp will cause problems with the other men (unwanted advances and such). I call BS on this. Chances are some foll in the past screwed something up and instead of just holding that individual responsible they have a knee jerk reaction and say no to al families.

i don't mind them but for the most part i am not going to act any different if there are women and kids there than if its just guys.
things are different if they are elderly
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

I include my kids as much as possible. My wife chooses not to go due to the accomodations but if she did she might embarrass some of the guys. We never had women in the camp when I was a kid but nothing ever went on that would offend any if there were.

The women should stay at home in the kitchen and take care of the kids.

My wife does like to hunt, so I take her a couple of weekends a year, usually when nobody else is down there.
For me, the lease is my "sanctuary". Other than to satisfy my addiction to hunting, one of the main reasons I choose to get on a lease is to getaway from the zoo I call home. If I drive 400 miles roundtrip, the last thing I want to hear is a bunch of griping. If I wanted to hear that, I could stay home.

Similar to what was said above. My wife and sons love to hunt and go to the lease. I generally take them a couple times a year. I also try to plan it when we won't have a full house down there. Fortunatly I am on a lease, where there are a lot of good people, and my wife also doesn't mind knocking back a beer and cutting up. So even if everyone is down there, everyone has a good time as any other time. BUT I also definately go alot by myself due to the fact that I like to sit in the stand forever (which they don't) and the alone time is also what helps me keep my sanity from the zoo life

i've been going to deer lease's ever since i was born. as have my cousin's, my dad, uncle's,and their buddy's will not get on a place unless they allow you to bring them. some of the best time's in my life were me and other kid's hanging out at the deer lease. my mom is a crack shot and has a couple of good buck's to her resume. she never was a hunter until she meet my dad. she told me and my brother's wife that if they wanted to spend time with her son's between october and febuary they better learn to hunt or atleast be willing to go to the deer lease(that didn't work though they still would rather have spa trips). it is a good release to go and get away for sure when your married with no kid's,but once i have kid's it will be on top of the list that they are involved everytime and my wife understands that. growing up it was like being able to sit at the big table at christmas when you went hunting with your dad, hanging around the campfire and your dad telling you don't let me hear you repeating any of this language when we get home. or seeing my mom make an off hand shot at 200 yards just to impress us and show that she could hold her own.

I don't mind kids or women if they behave. We had on kid in camp one time and he put up glass bottles on the fire pit and shot them with his bb gun. Never cleaned up the glass. I tend to cuss a lot and have taught my son some new words. I try to watch my mouth but its no use if there are going to be kids around they might have to have ear muffs on. If they don't like it not my fault.

I don't mind it and welcome it; especially young kids that need to carry on the tradition. I can't stand wild kids that are in to everything and the people that let their kids take off on the 4wheeler etc; this bothers me. As far as the women going they must understand the "language" that takes place and not mind a little exterior watering. The aboslute worst is a guy that totaly turns in his mancard and sleeps in, sweet talks (honey/baby), etc to accomadate the wife Overall it should be the same experience for all

We plan special "men only" hunts, but during those hunts it's primitive, sleeping in a log type hunt. We pack our stuff into a fairly remote area (there are no actual remote areas in Northeast Texas) and rough it. I've taken my sons after they got old enough to fend for themselves, but never took my wife or daughters. But most of the time, hunting is a family event.

The way I see it, if hunting tradition in the US is going to live, it better be OK for women and kids to be in hunting camp.

I have been on a few leases. Some were very family friendly and all were welcome. I have been on others that the thought of bringing wives and children was heresay. Just depends on the situation and the parties involved. Both were alot of fun.

That's somewhat my position as well. My wife or perhaps one of the kids will often go with me to the lease during the off season. Still, the lease provides me with a badly needed "escape" from all the stress that goes with the job and living with four women.
It doesn't bother me a bit when someone brings his wife. But I'm usually glad it's his wife and not mine. Don't take me wrong, I love my wife dearly and we've been married for more than 26 years. But the time apart, albeit for just a day or two, can be relaxing for both of us I'm sure.

We are lucky enough to have our hunting camp and hunting grounds about a mile frome my inlaws house. So if the women wanted to hunt they are more than welcome.
However, under no circumstances are they to stay the night at any time for any reason at the camp. They can come hang out, but when they do they better be ready to hear stuff they wouldn't regularly hear or see.

it depends on what you pay to hunt on the lease and how many deer you can take. if you pay good money to hunt for yourself and your buddies on the lease bring family out, it could be a problem. my deer lease is my getaway, I dont pay to have guests all over the place, if they want to bring family out, get it in writing, go by the rules so you dont cause no friction, if you want a family hunt, get a lease to yourself so you can do what you want without bothering other guys on the lease that paid for a place to get away and relax.

My wife has tagged along on a couple of hunts, and we've had a great time. She used the time to catch up on reading and relaxing while I was off bambi-slaying, then was there to tell me what a great hunter I was when I showed up with some dead critter. All in all, very positive.

those picture's are what it's all about. my mom probably has more picture's of me and my brother at the ranch or deer lease than any other setting. it kept my out of trouble for the most part. i also think bringing the kids can be funny sometime's the difference in how the hunt went down from the prespective of the child. my uncle shot a big 11 one time, problem was that my uncle had promised my cousin the next buck they saw was his,and my cousin had done everything he was supposed to do. my uncle just didn't expect this 160 class buck to walk out. my cousin was only 8 or 9 and didn't understand so while my uncle was setting up for the shot, he stuck his head out of the blind and started yelling at it and banging on the blind,my uncle got the buck, but the picture's are hilarious and what should of been a happy moment turned into a temper tantrum for my cuz,i still give him a hard time about it. i just wish it would of been on video.

My wife would never kill anything. She is like Goldie Locks in the brush though. She can walk up on more animals than we can, and talk young ones to her. She works at the county jail, so there is nothing even the most redneck guys can do to shock or mortify her. She is a huge help when she can make it out.
Mabe there is a place for man camps but I welcome families and kids anytime. We also have small groups and there is a different dynamic involved.
